Im not so sure it was the great tactical change as was being lauded as Beckham clearly had an injury he had ice strapped to his leg and was limping.

It has to be said that this was the best La Liga season (certainly in terms of excitement and incident) that i have ever known.
For that La Liga > Premiership.

Villarreal seal Lopez deal

Villarreal have splashed out €6million (£4million) on Real Madrid goalkeeper Diego Lopez as they begin their summer rebuilding in impressive fashion.

The Yellow Submarine have made the highly-rated shot stopper one of the most expensive players to come from los Merengues' youth ranks.

Despite the rumours that Jerzy Dudek will join Madrid, the new league champions had no plans to sell the 25-year-old, but were unable to resist the huge offer.

The move has come as a shock to the player too and he must return to the Spanish capital to organise his move to his new club.

Villarreal targeted a new keeper even though Sebastian Viera was impressive between the sticks last term.

Lopez joined Madrid from his hometown club of Lugo in 1999 and was promoted from the C team to RM Castilla in 2003.

After making 33 appearances for the second string, he was moved up to become Iker Casillas' full-time understudy two seasons ago.

That move has meant that Lopez has spent considerable time on the bench and only appeared in the Copa del Rey and one UEFA Champions League game last season.

Yes, and more importantly Liverpool have signed up an 18 year old kid from Athletico Bilbaos youth team for £270K in what could be a canny bit of business by Rafa.

Was gonna start a thread about this. It seems that Capello was only there to do the board's dirty work and get rid of Ronaldo, Carlos, Beckham et al.

Here zeds, I hope that Gullem Balague knows what he's talking about. Nice bloke and all that but it would be nice if Sky could spread their wings a bit and use someone else to glean information from. Don't you think?

No I really like Balague. He's cetainly got it right on this one. Look at the evidence...
Capello was at the helm nearly a decade ago and they knew the type of football they'd from him. So Calderon is talking rubbish when he says they're wanted better football, since in this case they should never had hired him.
They were also aware that Capello was famed for being unorthodox and wierd when dealing with big players and would undoubtedly shake things up as he has done. The next manager will certainly benefit from what Capello had done in changing the player's attitude while he was there.

Abidal and Toure have also joined Barca, it's really beginning to look good for next season. Zambrotta and Abidal must be the best full back pairing in the world.

I have a lot of respect for Gullem Balague , one of the few pundits I like to listen to...nobody can be right 100% of the time but would rather they replace jamie redknapp with him on the premiership progs
