Don't have a thread to discuss recent premiership games and incidents.
Was an important win for us today in a game where Simon Davies was in inspired form getting a goal and an assist, he really has been a very good signing. Credit goes to Coleman there. It was Kuqi of all people who changed the game though. His aerial presence unsettled the Reading defence and gave Healy room to get into space.
Chelsea gained more ground on the leaders and are only 3 points behind now. Lampard's playing very well and they will certainly be right up there at the end of the season.
We got the result our performance deserved at home to Brum - 3-1. But made hard work for ourselves conceeding with 10 mins to go and having to rescue it with two late goals.
Fantastic to see James Vaughan back and in the goals - this guy is going to be an absolute goal machine, he already has a record of around 1 in 2.5 games which is phenomenal considering his age, injuries and sporadic appearances.
Jagielka played very well slotting in for the injured Stubbs and Pienaar had his best game yet, I hope we can snap him up for the rumoured £2.5m we agreed at the beginning of the loan deal. Praise to Carsley as well who was class throughout - great goal as well.
Liverpool still struggling without Clattenburg refereeing but still getting away with Carragher - another blatant penalty turned down.
Goal of the weekend? Lots to choose from, Pamarot, Young and Belletti the big 3. I would go for Young I think.

Some superb goals, yeah, but I'd go for Belletti as I thought the build-up was better.
However, The Premiership is no longer a predictable race between the same teams. Last year it was Man United, Chelsea, Liverpool and Arsenal going for it. This year it will be Arsenal, Man United, Chelsea and Liverpool
Another manager has gone and its no surprise really..Chris Hutchings.
Just makes it even more amazing that Fergie has been at Man U for so long after the sort of start that would have got him sacked after a season or two now!
Ofcourse Wenger won the double pretty quickly soon after joining Arsenal and Moyes has been at Everton for 5/6 years but everyone must have changed their manager at least one in the past 3 years I think for different reasons .
Moyes has a good chairman who, although his luvvy ways and character aren't really my cup of tea, is very supportive towards him and realises that sacking a man like Moyes isn't the way forward. It will take a disaster to see him get the bullet.
Hutchings was a massive gamble and probably shouldn't have been appointed in the first place, given his track record of disaster.
I agree that none will go this season, but I could see Southgate or Sanchez going at the end of the season if they either go down or narrowly escape relegation
Ive always said a team should give a new manager at least 3 years. If they feel the need to replace him earlier then they should look to themselves and consider if they are qualified to appoint the next manager after botching up the recruitment of the previous one. Especially if he took over in oct/nov because that pretty much means his first season is taken up firefighting.
Here we go again then. Can anyone please explain why Andy Johnson's goal was ruled out?
I am sick and tired of incompetence on behalf of the officials costing Everton points. This has to be the worst decision of the season, well, it's certainly up there with Clattenburg anyway.
Now, you may well not be aware of this because it was barely covered in the media this week but the FA have dropped all the charges against Moyes for this comments about Clattenburg after the derby. These are the comments in which he mentions the referee going on Liverpool's pre-season tours and being overly friendly with the players. So why would the FA drop the charges? Perhaps they want to deny Davey his day in court to shout this from the roof tops. Maybe they cannot defend the decisions made in that match because they are indefensible...
Not that I want to sound like YellowPinky but with this mind maybe the match should be replayed?

I saw the Johnson incident and I have to agree with you 100%. But maybe, just maybe, if the rules about offside were clearer, Johnson wouldn't have been given offside. Why can no-one in charge at FIFA see what a ridiculous rule this is at the moment
I hear what you're saying Andy but from what I've seen, read and heard - not one person is backing the decision and able to explain why it was disallowed. That's not a gray area or unclear rules, just bad officiating.

Unfortunately cant comment as I dont remember it now. I do know that this loser rule came about because of people complaining about the offside rule being unclear. It seems just as unclear now as it was before. Well actually the rule itself is very clear and understandable its just after its fudged its way through a referees grey matter that seems to be the problem. It wouldnt matter what the rule was tough if the referees were consistent but that seems to be impossible for them to even remotely acheive.
If you're in an offside position, you're offside. It should be that black and white. If you've strayed offside enough to make the officials make a decision, you will, at some point, surely, be in a position to influence the game
Thing is though Andy if I am laying on the floor or standing by the corner flag then I am not interferring with play (not sure what influencing the game translates to I think the fans can influence the game but im not going to flag them offside).
They have tried having it black and white and then people complained that we were getting ludicrous decisions and decent goals being disallowed and the stupid rules were going against attacking football. We cant have it both ways, but the ex pros seem to have a memory of a goldfish about what particular part of the offside rule they hate this year is. If the referees were in anyway consistent then it wouldnt be as bad though thats the main problem I think and since about 50% of the offside rule has always been down to the referees discretion.
Actually to clarify to me the two most annoying ex pro pundits gripes after the game are offside and handball decisions.
Knowing the rules you constantly get replays of decisions where the ball hits a hand from 2 feet away and I will guarantee you that some moronic "expert on the game" will say he thinks it should have been a penalty and the line "I have seen them given" will be trolled out or what was his arm doing waving around instead of taped to his side will be mentioned. Ignorance of the laws of the game at the very highest level contributes to muddying the waters over laws that are simple enough for an 8 year old to understand if so called professional experts could be bothered to pick up a rule book every once in a while.
Allardyce was added to the morons that say they dont understand the offside rule yesterday. Well dont bother to apply for the England job again any time soon thanks Sam I would rather someone who actually knows the game be in charge of the national game.
I do take your point, and I do agree with it. But it seems that perfectly good goals are being disallowed whatever interpretation we make about it. My point is that, if you're offside and able to play the ball, as opposed to lying down injured, this would at least make it clearer to the likes of Gray, Allardyce and Redknapp (who seem to be the biggest culprits for moronic comments)
talking of commentators i dont see why they are paid shedloads of money to commentate on a game when in the case of liverpool and andy gray he does nothing but slate the liverpool on every game - surely they should get commentators that are neutral??
I think the only thing that might make it clearer to those three would be if you could emboss the laws of the game onto them with a hammer .
As long as we have humans refereeing games there will be mistakes. If its not that law it will be another they will be focusing on.
One thing I would like to see is highlighting some of the good decisions made sometimes just to balance it out a bit. One incident I remember from Saturday was seeing Rooney dive for a penalty and the commentator instantly thinking it should have been given only to see on the replay it was clearly a dive. Instead of saying oh I was wrong good decision he tried to insinuate Rooney stumbled and it wasnt mentioned after the game either.
If Andy Gray hates Liverpool, he loves "Stevie G". God, I hate that name- not the player, but the way they say Stevie G, much the same as everytime they mention Liverpool, they have to use the word 'Kop' as well. Things like 'Kop Kings', 'the kop suck the ball into the back of the net' and (when talking about a particular player/manager turning Liverpool down to join them) 'Mr X snubs the kop'.
I have nothing against Liverpool whatsoever, but I hate that terminology. You don't find the media saying things like 'Mr X turns down the Holte End/Stretford End/The Shed/North Bank' do you?
Petrov now sent off in the 94th minute for a petulant kick out at Osman, he'd just been booked for the same thing on Yakubu but this was a straight red. Seemed a bit harsh in fairness.
Great result for us - back up to fourth and goal difference getting better as it becomes ever more crucial.
