Stalling on new contracts? Honestly! When Man U were paying you full wages whilst you were suspended? A little loyalty, please!
Syn, Miss-P, Heinze...opinions please? Tommy Doc was saying he'd kick him straight out the door...but who would you replace him with? And how much of that £30m outlay would you get back?
Is he just becoming a mercenary journeyman...? After all he did the same to the Hammers, and at Leeds. Or is he worth the money he thinks he deserves, seeing Terry on better wages must sting a bit...
Something's up....

I think we should sell him now, while he's still worth something. I doubt we'd get £30 million for him, but I'm sure £20 million is feasible.

If he doesn't want to play for us, he should go now.

I'm really disappointed in Rio, but if money is his only motivation, that's his perogative.

How about a swap for Ledley King? I think the one redeamable feature of Ferdinands game is his abillity to bring the ball out from defence, rather than just the hoof upfield...

Big Grin

That's re-sign obviously not resign...though some might prefer the latter at the moment.

Think hes a great player... but the attitude does seem a little off considering hwo the club and fans stuck by him over the "forgotten drugs test".

It's a pity Rio's intelligence doesn't match his wallet.

This delay in agreeing a new contract is a load of old boswelox if you ask me. Of course he wants to stay at United, it's his agent stringing things out to get Ferdinand more money, as if what he's earning at the moment isn't enough! Roll Eyes

The firefighters and paramedics who had to sive through body parts on trains get £30,000 a year at most, Rio gets quadruple that a week, what a fair world!

Yes, some footballers are on stupid money, but it would be a mistake to say all are. The high paid ones we all hear about are only the top 2%...and if you look at any private profession, you will find the top 2% on grossly exaggerated earnings...Doctors, lawyers, business men. Even employees in the public sector get big money at the top.
A local team to me (St Albans City) had something of a legend, a few years ago..a striker called Clarke...Barnet were always trying to poach him. But he decided to stay in the amateur leagues, as to do that, and keep his job as a PE teacher, was better money than turning pro...

Well done on getting more than 5 words in your reply P S! Your stars must be shooting up!
Take tonight's boxing...heavyweight champions...British Vs English champion...must be minted, eh?
Not if they have to run a butchers shop to make ends meet.
The top few get millions, the ones lower down the ladder get pennies for a career that lasts a few years, and is mentally and physically exhausting.
To be the best would you be willing to put in 18 hour days, seven days a week? Could you be focused enough to mentally exclude all barriers, including family and friends? Could you isolate yourself, regiment yourself, and diet on what you were told to eat, told to do, whilst all your friends were out enjoying life?

Now, think about doing all that...giving your all, but not quite making it. Just having to settle with 'average'. It's a bit worse than not getting a third star on your badge at McDonalds.
I train alongside Olympic medalists...and to see the determination, the grit, the ambition in them is humbling. I have qualifications in sports psychology, yet fail to see how one can be so focused.
To get to the top is by no means an easy ride, and only the top 2% of the highest earners got there, because they were the top 2% who put the required effort in.
