I can only hope that throwing that game was worth it after this week.

Its a long time since I have seen one of our teams give such a poor performance. It was like one of our pre season games in Austria jogging around on a pitch they clearly didnt want to play on.

Hmm well maybe a bit strong throw as I still think we tried our hardest with the team he put out but...

Well either we really have all those injuries to key players for a game where many were speculating him making a priority of the Milan game. Or they have developed what I call "Wenger injuries" which he often uses to avoid explaining why players have been dropped to the press and in this case maybe avoid awkward questions about not treating the cup seriously if we lose the Milan game anyway.

We shall see if they are all running around spritely with energy to burn during in the game v milan.

Examples of Wenger injuries in the last couple of years or so have been Lehmann - early this season
Henry - late last season
Edu - when he wouldnt sign a new contract
Wiltord - when he wouldnt sign a new contract

This won't make me any friends on here but I was disgusted by Arsenal on Saturday. Not so much in the lackluster performance and general malaise but in the second half showing. Kicking out at players (mainly Nani), petulant behaviour, berating the referee, an appalling tackle by Eboue (not that he hasn't got form for this sort of thing) and to top it all - the most outrageous dive I have ever seen! It was very unbecoming from a side I usually enjoying watching.

I note that Gilberto is still saying today that Nani will get himself kicked to bits carrying on in that style. To be honest, I couldn't see much wrong with it. He didn't break any laws of the game, I guess it was an incident where if you don't care about the result - you laugh and if you're on the losing end of it, you see it differently.

+1 Totally agree. I put enough noses out of joint by gloating, so i left this part alone, but i'm glad it's been mentioned. The disgusting fouls on Utd players were totally out of order. Before the Nani 'incident' there had already been a few bad challenges, Nani's 'skill's ( Wink ) only spurred them on. Even then, there's no excuse for it.

All that Gilberto was saying and remember he was saying what he had said to him during the game as they both speak portuguese and can relate culturally was that if you do that kind of thing. IE playing keepy uppy in a game where you are already winning easily then some thug is going to try and break your leg not just get what he got from Gallas which is frankly quite tame compared to what he might get if he does it against the wrong opponent. I remember a famous quote where Fergusson told Keane to give Ronaldo a kick for doing that in training.

I expected you to bring it up the fan and of course your players have never dived against us or tried to kick us off the park.

Adebayor was pathetic I mean what is the point its not as if getting a penalty would change the game then and ive never seen him do that before. Was bizarre but the most outragious come off it prolix you have a player that dived so much he finds it hard even getting genuine penalties now. The difference is that they actually get given when United do it against us and the was more contact (in that there was actually some( in that one than there was on the Rooney Campbell one in a previous match. I have already said before I dont like Ebuoe he always puts in bad tackles and dives I dont know many Arsenal fans that do.

I notice that nobody mentions the despicable elbow from Brown on Bendtner though. Not surprising though as I have never seen one pick up on by sky etc for a united player in a game like that even when there is a mass brawl.

Erm, but i didn't? Someone else was also appalled by it and felt strongly enough to mention it.

That makes it ok then? I have/had a lot of respect for Arsenal, especially the previous and current season. However, after how they reacted during the game, i was left quite disappointed that they felt they had to resort to that.

Although not as bad, it stirred memories of the time Van Nistlerooy missed the penalty against Arsenal, after which Keown and Parlour attacked him. Can still see Keown now, doing his best impression of a crazed chipmunk... Roll Eyes

You couldnt wait to jump in though.. You would think you were happy enough with winning and playing well.

I am frankly getting sick and tired of having to go through this every time we play united because every single incident is brought up at the end of the game that is vaguely against us. Every dive every kick yet during other games funny how incidents like that dont even make the highlight shows let alone a discussion by the pundits after the game. Also they never bring up anything negative against United because if they do then Ferguson stops talking to them like he did with the BBC and Greene.

Yes I remember that game that was the game where van Nistelrooy dived for the penalty and got it and where he got vieira sent off after kneeing him in the kidneys. van Nistelrooy one of the dirtiest protagonists of the game and sneaky with it. I am sure he recovered from beign viciously shouted at and asaulted by Keowns armpit which he unbelievably got a 3 game suspension for yet Neville kicked Cole and got away with it completely. Barton a known thug can get away with punching someone this week and do you hear people up in arms?

Are you going to drag up the whole history of incidents between our teams because frankly its boring and has been done too many times to count.

I don't understand what your point is? One minute you have a go at me for backing the thoughts and words of someone else, and then you go on to slate your team. Now you seem to be defending their actions?

The only reason an issue has been made with this particular game was purely down the obvious fact that Arsenal threw away all discipline. Something that seems to happen often against Man Utd. It was the footballing equivalent of spitting the dummy because they were losing badly.

It's as simple as that Capt.

The bits I slated them for are different to the points you brought up.

I have made no secret that I dont like Eboue he is a liability. Are you one of those fans that thinks that your players can do know wrong is that why there is confusion for you? I will slate players that deserve it rather than moronically backing them.

No its not the only reason every single time we play you an incident is blown up and ones such as Browns elbow are completely ignored. I can instgantly think of two dives one Adebayors quite rightly being criticised and Rooneys whereby the pundits desperately tried to find some contact and when they couldnt came up with that he shouldnt have been waving his leg around like that. It makes no difference if we win or lose the game. You can call it not winning gracefully or spitting the dummy out or all of your usual cliches. Of course your team are the bastians of good sportsmanship and never lose their cool.

I know one thing for sure if it had been Fabregas flicking the ball around and fletcher had given him a kick you would be singing a different tune. That discipline statement goes both ways your side has lost it just as often at least our manager hasnt nearly blinded our star player after one of our games.

Now you're just being silly.. same old same old.. you can dig deeper into that bitterness pit you've dug yourself into but the message is still the same from me - get over it. You had a bad game. The players were awful. The discipline was dire. BUT it's probably not a trend you're likely to continue so get over it.

On the pointing of backing players no matter what and Fergie blinding players - Clutching at straws much? It's like you're scrambling for ammo to use, anything that takes the flack of Arsenal.

Now digest all those lovely cliches i added especially for you, and once again - Get over it.

Thumbs Up Wave

Im not the one who brought it up. I have nothing to get over I was discussing the upcoming european games.

Its you that has the problem with your continuous windup posts you can deny it all you want but that seems to be all you are interested in. I can agree with Prolix to a point he will rasie his views and thats it.

The fergusson point was reminding you of when your team lost its discipline when losing or should i have said spat the dummy out. Its certainly not the only time. As for the cliches you are full of it and them.

You keep replying to it, i'd say that's not letting go, don't you?

...Just as long as Prolix/whoever doesn't then go on to argue with any of the following posts you make to defend your teams shocking behaviour? Ok then. Thumbs Up

Er no. Fergie lost his. Not the team. Fergie did not dive like he'd been shot by a firing squad. He did not kick a player as they were getting up. He did not lunge at Saha with his boot held high, slamming it into his thigh.

I manage to put a decent sentence together, make valid points, look at a situation from other angles, all without constantly resorting to insulting someone. - Try it.

I won't bother with anything else you've got to say on the subject as it's repeating what's already been said and getting nowhere.

Good luck against AC Milan though. Devil

Its definitely prolix look its right up there where you replied to. I am sure your memory isnt that bad. We dont always agree but he doeesnt behave like a child or a windup merchant.

No doubt he will respond at some point unless he loses the will to live after seeing you at it again.

Your team has lost it on many occasions as well as your manager. Fergie as you say didnt need to dive though I am sure he would if he thought it would work he had van nisteldive and rooney and ronaldo to do it for him. He didnt elbow Bendtner in the head either neither have any of your players ever kicked anyone in the thigh.

You should pay attention to your own advice.

Likewise with Lyon.

is that not a bit harsh when i think of some of teh tackles put in in the past by the likes of Keane, Butt, Scholes, Cantona, Hughes etc. A Man U fan calling another team for being dirty is like Juventus calling an Italian team cheats..... lets ask John Moncur if he thinks Cantona is dirty, or Alf Inge Haaland if he's a big Keane fan etc!!!

No, silly, i meant 'whoever' as in whoever happens to reply to you. I wasn't arguing that it was Prolix on this occasion.

I'm not arguing the fact we've lost or our players have made bad challenges in the past. That does not mean i shouldn't point out how awful your players were in their behaviour to us in the recent game. This is something that happened now, that's why it's relevant, that's why it's being mentioned.

Again, i'm not saying we haven't had bad games/challenges/fouls in the past. We have, and we took the flack from it at the time. Being as this happened this Saturday, it's Arsenals turn to accept the comments and criticisms for the way they behaved.

Just because almost every team in every league have had games which the behaviour has been poor, doesn't mean no one can comment. It's not a glass house situation. Otherwise Arsenal could continue in that fashion every week without fear of the backlash.
