We all know that Svens days as England manager have been numbered for some time, and he'll probably leave after World Cup, unless for some reason England slip up (like against the Danes) and don't even make it to Germany.
But the question is WHO replaces Sven??
I agree with Luke Young who today says: Alan Curbishley, i think he is an amazing manager, who if at club level was given BIG BIG money would have a premiership winning team. So with Englands top players under him who knows what he could deliver.
I'm surprised a big club hasn't come in for Curbishley. Maybe the jump from Charlton to England is a bit much for the FA but he's got some record and Charlton have started well this season. I'm sure Eriksson will go after the World Cup.
i'm up for big Sam too, great motivator, would love to see him work with some big names, wouldn't mind if Curbishley or Mclaren got it either, but if Steve Bruce ever manages England i may well shoot myself!!
Mouirinho for me, he's got half the team anyway (SWP, Cole, Terry, Lamps, Bridge etc..).
Realistically I'd like to see Pearce in a couple of years if he can keep up the good work, or Curbishley or McLaren. Not sure how Sam would cope to be honest and I don't want to see Kevin Davies getting a call up

Psycho! Love him and his passion for the game. Hopefully he'll be Englands manager one day.
"He who doesn't understand history is doomed to repeat it"
You can't keep picking flavour of the month managers to step up to the England job. 2 words:
Kevin
Keegan
Do you remember England getting knocked out of the group stages in Euro 2000? Do you remember England picking up just one point from their first two qualification matches for the 2002 World Cup? Do you remember England getting beaten at Wembley by the Germans?
The answer is clear – Sven is the best man for the job.
All of the above are true for the vast majority of England managers, nigh, practically all International managers.
Look at the results from the weekend. Holland beating Armenia by a single goal. Italy drawing with Scotland. Belgium losing to Bosnia. I really, really, really fail to see what your criteria for a "good" England manager is? Please, please, please tell me. Would you rather us be the whipping boys of international football, as long as the manager has "passion" like Keegan?
Don't get me wrong, I agree with everything Scouse put about Sven above, but I don't think it's any different with any international side.
Let's be honest, England can only beat the team put out in front of them, Wales, N Ireland, Ajabwhatever are hardly the most "inspiring" of opponents. You can't deny that England have raised their games against bigger teams, Germany away in the WC 2002 qualifiers, Argentina WC2002, France Euro2004 - not all the games were victorious, but you certainly can't accuse England (under Sven) of lying down and getting beaten to death against "better" sides.
Didn't Kevin Keegan admit the job was too big for him? You do need alot of experience to be a national manager, especially where the media's concerned. I don't get it, why does the English media put the boot into every English manager? It must put off alot of potential candidates.
Sven has lost the respect of the players and fans... he insists on chopping and changing the formation instead of letting the team settle. He relys on players that are past their prime or not of form (and don't get me started on Hardgreaves) Lets face it niether Becks or Owen have been showing their quality for England for a while, but they seem to be first on the team sheet (Becks I undestand more because he is a good captain) Over the past few seasons there have been players that have played out of their skins in the league but have not been given a chance at international level because of Sven and his "favourites". If they have got a game its been out of position so they have to fall in around the other players....
Sven gets us into the major tournaments, granted. But what do we do when we are there? Perennial quarter/semi finalists. The players we have available now are the best we have had for years...as a squad, maybe ever. It would be harder to not qualify, yet in the tournaments we are always the nearly men...no titles in 39 years? With what we have? Poor substitutions, bad tactics, and no half time motivation. Sven says he won't release the line up for tonight until one hour before the game to keep the Irish guessing.... So lets have a guess... 4-4-2 Robinson b'tween sticks Pretty much the same four at the back as Saturday (might be a change to right back, but unlikely) J. Cole, Gerrard, Lampard, and Beckham in the middle Owen and Rooney up front. As for captaincy, Jimmy Greeves once said, apart from saying "tails" before kick off, what else do they actually do? Anyone on the field can lift their team mates, either by playing well, or giving them verbals. As a manager, I never chose a captain who played in an advanced position, as their back was often turned to most of the play. IMHO GK's and centre backs were best
The past is history...The future a mystery. This moment is a gift...That's why it's the present.
OK! So Sven has to go, but do you think the FA will ever appoint another foreign manager again?? Scotland tried it and look what Mr. Vogts did for us SFA, (and thats Sweet Funk All not the association)!! Nationals should manage the national team, look at Scotland now under Walter Smith, he may not be the greatest of managers but he has the passion back in Scottish football!!! And that result and the way we played against the Italians should give the team a huge boost before tonights game in Oslo!!

Didn't do the Greeks any harm!

but they did win something!! They played way above themselves motivated by a foreign manager with tactics to suit their players, and look how South Korea did in the world cup with a foreign manager, most would have expected them to struggle to even make the 2nd round, albeit they did have some dodgy refs decisions in their favour.
I'd rather get a decent foreign manager in and win a tournament and then do nothing for a few years than keep sven or have a lesser english replacement and win naff all for ever and keep getting to the quarter finals
All that was just to answer the foreign managers don't work point, ideally we'd have a successful english manager, what the hell i'll go for it myself
