I need to know the rules regarding encroachment before penalties are taken,as I understand it, if the encroachment into the area is by the attacking team's players the sanction is that the defending team get an indirect free kick...or is there a different rule for SAF and ManU??

I know its not news to talk about the moronic level of football punditry we're regular projected to but what is the point of slow motion examination of ball to hand penalty incidents? they happen in real-time FFS! I note Shearer suggested the FA video watchdogs should look at the Phleb(sp?) alleged slap/punch incident v Reading(Lineker clearly baulked at that on MOTD)I think they should look at that clear simulation by Rooney V Blackburn!

I learn from talksport radio that the FA video panel are taking MOTD Shearer's advice and investigating Alexander Hlebs little pat on the Reading man's cheek that pole axed the poor little flower! How ironic! does anyone remember England captain Shearer forcing nay blackmailing the FA into ignoring video evidence of him kicking an opponent in the head several years ago?

erm, why have you deleted my completely true thread about Alan Shearer's hypocrisy? did the truth hurt someone?

Although having said that when players of both sides encroach which is what happened then I suspect it goes on the side of the penalty takers.

To be honest I was more peeved with the free kick decision that they scored fromm which was never replayed on Sky. Very unusual of them not to replay an incident not even once you normally get it 200 times from different angles.

Forget about something that happened with Shearer a decade or so ago, you seem to be condoning Hleb's raised arm and slap dished out. I'm puzzled that you should call for Drogba to be sent off for taking his shirt off and celebrating with the crowd (2 bookable offences in your eyes), yet seem quite happy for Hleb to have gone unpunished. Personally, I think that Hleb got everything he deserved. If the ref had seen it during the game, he would have walked, no doubt about it
