i am glad that wolves and west brom came out first although i have always thought that there may be a bigger rivalry somewhere in the country but i must say it goes a lot deeper then football.

Palace and Brighton have been rivals since the 70's, maybe earlier. I do agree, and have always thought, that it's one of the stranger rivalries though

Bury/Rochdale above the Manchester derby? does this mean that Bury v Rochdale is the most fierce derby in the Greater Manchester area? And is it more fierce than probably the most violent game in the English league calendar, Millwall v West Ham?

I'm surprised to see Norwich and Ipswich up there but it is true, that many of the fans of both teams do mutually hate each other.

Ipswich (town LOL) have the historical success and Norwich have the 'fine' and more important city. And the bigger and better club! (of course) And Delia (they don't like her very much either!) Big Grin

Ipswich was always the grudge game of the season with the highest crowds in the days when both clubs were in the old first division and playing Liverpool and Manchester United every season.

I'm not surprised Liverpool and Everton are so low in the list, because you can't have much of a deep animosity with people who you probably work with and drink with the rest of the time.

I think the list represents how real fans actually feel rather that the more media manufactured Premiership rivalries.

I dont see why its so strange as they are the closest team to Brighton geographically unless you count teams like Crawley and Lewes etc. Its a half hour direct train ride away. They played a lot of games while in the same division until the last 5-10 years and Crystal Palace is not considered London by a lot of teams so therefore hard for them to be considered a real rival for any of them...

If I remember the rivalry started at the time of the breaking of Gerry Ryans leg and ending his career who was a massive favourite at Brighton and some crowd trouble in the late 70's early 80's.

Why? Because they're in the 'Big 4 TM'

In the same manner I'm surprised that Liverpool and Man Utd are there.
What do they do? Do they criticise the corporate entertainment and food, or set fire to each other's 4X4s.

Poor little things are generally disliked by most but not enough to be anyone's 'true' rival!
