Should be a cracking game, will be great to welcome God back, am sure he'll get a standing ovation, hope we win 4-3, fowler hat trick, and four for torres, should his legs not have been broken Big Grin

Nice to hear from you Scouse. I thought you were avoiding me. Big Grin Big Grin

Yeah, should be a good game, I hope to get my ticket this week. I can't see Torres getting his legs broken, I don't think that our defenders will get near him - if he plays

Will this be before or after he collects his Guinness world record award for 'Most Parked Cars Chased' ?

Beat me to it ST! I remember thr first time he came back to Anfield with Leeds, and the same scoreline was hoped for!

Andy, would i ever avoid you Wink except perhaps after this cup game !!

Mr Fan, i would expect nothing less than you supporting city, i know i was supporting city last time!! Big Grin

Cupra, theres not many players we'd ever say that about, certainly not Owen, cant really think of anyone else to be honest, though Danny Murphy will always have heroes welcome for me for his two winners against Utd

There's only one or 2 players who played for any club who can expect that kind of welcome from their former fans. For Fowler at Liverpool, read Nathan Blake for us

well owen at his best was never as good as fowler at his, but its more than that, fowlers one of teh supporters, its for things like his backing the dockers, pointing his backside at le saux and hating gary neville as much as we do

Well, Scouse, the way you Liverpool fans hold Fowler in such high regard for the reasons you mention (the Le Saux thing was hilarious and legendary, everyone detests Le Saux), Blakey is held in the same regard down here. Little 'pranks' like being banned for drugs, getting nicked robbing a fruit machine in a social club late one night, stuff like that.

I can totally understand the love of Fowler. The Le Saux thing was funny as for most fans of most teams. Couldnt stand Le Saux. Also snorting the line was legendary. I really hated it when he played against us, he always seemed to score.

Probably why we still love sporting heroes like Barry Sheen, James Hunt, and George Best. Huge talent, a refusal to conform, and a common touch....
Owen and God are like Coe and Ovett...a well groomed ambassador, Vs a let's have a pint after, type
Nothing against Owen, (as far as I'm concerned, when he knocks each goal in for England, he's still one of ours) he's scored his fair share, and many important ones too. But he never seemed to be a finished article. Great pace, and that was mostly it.
God on the other had had it all. Pace (ok not as fast as Owen), two feet, a great head for a shorter than average forward, and an ability to read the game
If I had to pick one of the two at their best, then Owen would be a bench warmer...
