I wouldnt bother getting into it, Capt is always right or at least he is always saying he is. Bergkamp has said in 3 seperate interviews that i know of, that he was a Spurs fan as a kid, and that he always wanted to play for Spurs. Bergkamp became a Spurs fan for the same reason i did, i saw Hoddle play, who else could i support after seeing him play.
Sugar was a fool for not signing Bergkamp when he had the chance, but in his defence(if i can defend him)at the time Bergkamp was having a horrendous time, playing rubbish, and it was a gamble, but only in as much as he needed a new club, and when he got that club he managed to get his career going again.
I have always thought that Bergkamp was loyal and that was the reason he kept it quiet about his love of Spurs in front of the Arsenal fans, even though they knew he was a Spurs fan. There are some Arsenal fans who dont even know the clubs own history and where they came from, let alone their players favourite team.
Like it was said Defoe is an Arsenal fan, but to be honest i dont really care as long as he gives 100% for us, i dont know why it should.
