Would it be fair to suggest that section of fans that booed him probably did so to show a dislike of Cole as a person (he does not seem that popular) rather than because he just made one error which in the context of the game proved to not to be vital (infact probably woke the England players up a bit! and got them playing!)
I felt that maybe people were just waiting for him to make such a mistake so they could target him with ther gereral reasons from previous incident.
Felt the mistake actually woke the other 10 players up a bit and got them playing to actually kill off the game because it wasn't great up till that point.
Ashley Cole encapsulates all that is crass and vulgar in the modern day young, arrogant, couldn't-care-less-about-the-fans footballer. Personally, I detest the very sight of this man and, although I've never booed any player on my own side, and never will, I can understand and sympathise with the fans that did
Personally, I don't agree with this sort of abuse though.
Looking in from the outside, it seems to me that one of the failings of English football does seem to get bogged down in personality issues in a way that we don't here sur le Continent .
Same with the Lampard vs Gerrard, or who should be captain stuff, or whatever. Other countries don't get bogged down it this.
The team is picked, it plays, problems are dealt with. The end.

He made a classic schoolboy error He really should've known better, and altho' I personally wouldn't boo any of my team, I can well understand the reason why some fans did.

He nearly crashed his car when he heard that he would only be getting £50.000 a week from Arsenal...his words not mine.
This is why football is a sport of people of little class, the people who boo are morons and the players and media who whinge about the booing are also soft morons, if he had been shot dead like Escobar then it would be more of a talking point.
