A guy that needs dumping on the bench for a few games to let the size of his head go down?

what a stupid sending off last night......his petulance and ability to rant the f word to all and sundry on a football pitch.....(and by all accounts off it too.....) are really spoiling him,as he is such a talent.

do you think fergie is handling him the right way?......having read roy keane's autobiography about how fergie handled him, does make you wonder if master rooney is getting away with alot!!!

Big Grin very good

its a fine line, too much discipline and he's gonna get p****d off and won't be half the player he is now, still only very young, i think he'll earn in time and we'll just have to put up with a few red cards for now, still the best hope england have of doing anything next year, if sven ever picks him in his proper position instead of his 4-6-0 formation!!

LOL very good! Big Grin

I think in time he'll learn to control his temper. Also believe S.A.F. is the person to help him.
We don't know what's said behind closed doors, but judging by Sir Alex's face on wednesday, I'm sure Rooney was made to "listen 'n' grovel!")

I agree about Sir Alex... .he has a way with the more "temper-mental" players Wink

He seems to be able to get best out of them (Cantona, Keane, Beckham) - so Rooney should be getting his captains armband soon then!

He's a young player with loads of talent who WILL learn maybe the hard way but he will learn.

The problem with players that become stars so young is that the normal discipline that is given to all other players at thier age is at best lame and at worse non existant.

The notion that he will get over it and learn and the other that disciplining him will somehow affect their game both wrong IMO. It is difficult for the manager when he knows that by upsetting his star player it might mean him not renewing his contract the next time of asking.

What this untimately means though is that they slowly decend a spiral of self destruction...

I think the reaction to Rooney has been way OTT.

Yes he was stupid & yes he should have been sent off & I'm sure that SAF will deal with him internally, but the reaction has been wholly ridiculous.

Talksport Radio spent virtually the whole of Thursday, just talking about that incident.

If I had just landed from Saturn, I would be forgiven for thinking that Rooney has assassinated the Prime Minister or something! Roll Eyes

Rooney wont learn you cant take that sort of attitude out of someone....you can't make a silk purse out of a sows ear....Rooney is a thug...and will end up playing 3rd division like Paul Casgoine ...complete idiot....Rooney will never learn...his trailer trash...pure and simple....really simple in his case!

A manager that throws boots at his players is hardly the best teacher for some one like Rooney!

The best young player in world football that's what he is. We should be trying to help him not have a go at him. I am afraid it is the British way.

That's exactly right.

I cannot believe the reaction.

I don't think that what he did was that bad.

He deserved to be sent off, but it didn't deserve a full scale 3 day inquest!!!! Roll Eyes

That says alot about your national team with a comment like that? Surely your national side is bigger than one player like Rooney?

it just speaks badly of sven thats all, he has no back up plan, no first plan really, our only hope is a bit of individual magic, and rooney's the most likely, you can see from recent games we've no team play at all

i was watching sky sports on saturday afternoon...plenty of debate on there regarding rooney.......some seemed to put the idea forward that if he was to lose his "aggresion" he would not be the player he is.....others suggested he needs to "grow up"

i guess he is just such a talent it's a difficult call......opinions are divided.

Take the agression away from him, and surely your still left with the lad's natural talent? Agression doesn't make you a good footballer. It certainly helps, but Rooney has such skill.

I think the guy is arrogant, but there is no doubting that he is a fantastic footballer....

Ex pros always come up with that one. I cant see how being stopped from swearing and answering back to referees is going to affect your game. Brian Clough used to fine any player that argued with a referees decision, it didnt affect Stuart Pearce did it! The same excuses
