They could well be in trouble...tough run of games coming up. Think they'll be alright and improve next year. 13th place finish this year and 9th next year. Geordies'll be having nose bleeds after that one!
Where I live we don't find the Newcastle situation a problem. However it's the England situation all over again. If you are going to get rid of a manager you must make sure you have a better replacement. (That's Sven and McClaren obviously-not the new bloke)
I agree GJ, if you are going to sack a manager you must have some kind of coherent plan in place as to who is going to replace them and then give them time and support.

If they persevered with Allardyce for a few seasons and put up with football that is a little duller than they want, they may win something for the first time in 55 years. But they want to win every game 5-4, something they were doing under Keegan but never came close to winning a trophy.
What exactly do they want up there? Duller football and a trophy or two or exciting football and not even a sniff of a trophy?
No-one wanted to go there. A couple turned them down as they have no European football and no real prospect of it at the moment. He bought in a young italian striker. And we all know what the track record of Italian strikers over here is like, don't we?

Apparently they tried but when you employ a manager that has not been keeping up his contacts or watching football then it will take more than a month to re-establish contacts and decide on new signings much less persuading them to join the train wreck of a club that they are.

I was reading this morning that they put in an £800,000 bid for Wes Brown. I'm not a great fan of Wes Brown, but even I know he's worth more than that in today's transfer market.
If that's how they're conducting their transfer dealings, no wonder clubs and players are telling them where to go. Perhaps Keegan should have kept touch a bit closer to what's been going on in football while he was out of the game
To be fair, he is out of contract in June and very unlikely to sign a new deal, it was worth putting in a teasing offer to tempt United. The money men might have made Ferguson go for it. £800,000 was far too cheeky an offer though, £2m maybe.

How much longer does he want? He is famed for his motivational qualities, yet they haven't won a game since he took over, and nor have they looked like doing so. The confidence is apparently at its lowest ebb, yet still he fails to motivate his players. Rubbish? Surely not

If u knew much then u would know its was not Big Sam who made a mess at Newcastle.
Keegan will not save Newcaslte and im putting money on them going down (that will b the end then). Newcaslte play poor football and they dont look like they will win a game, only Derby have a worst goal diff than Newcastle

As always, Heinze, I agree with you there. There's not a job he's been sacked from because he always walks first. Don't blame him in some circumstances, but it does his reputation no good at all, unless you're one of the gullible 'Geordie Nation' (how much do I hate that phrase?).
Or it could just be that Kev is an honest and passionate bloke who had realised his limitations in these jobs under those circumstances. Newcastle mid 90's is not Newcastle late 00's.

Keegan likes to have loads of money (usually to be able to outspend his rivals, like he did in the 90's) rather than play catch-up with the rest of the pack. If he knew his limitations in having a 12 point lead sucked away from him, do you reckon he'll survive this time round? The clever money says no.

Newcastle's current mess is all their own making and, if they go down, they will be where their amateurish running of a club has deservedly put them. They had the chance of stability with Allardyce if they gave him time, but they preferred to sack him before half a season and employ a spent force with a reputation of bailing out when the going gets tough in almost every job he's been at
