He's not a bad player, but you do have to question the fee at his age, and what he could bring to Liverpool. After all, it's not likely he would walk into the first team. Could well just be (as Scorpion says) an easy way of playing mind games, just like Man U have done before with other teams players

I wrote about this last month Andy, was well peed orf I can tell ya. Devastated to put it mildly!! ____________________ Heinze Posted 30-06-07 13:08
Please God, NO! Liverpool are reportedly ready to rival Juventus for the signature of Gabriel Heinze, but the Manchester United defender is remaining tight-lipped about his future until after the Copa America.
Hoping Sir Alex hangs onto him full stop, but if he is set on selling him, then please let it be abroad at least. _______________ I can't change my name, don't use the email I registered with anymore, lost it. So I either continue with Heinze or start again with another name.
Still rate him highly, think he's a fantastic player, has such passion and enjoyment of the game. I really hope he stays, think there's still a place in the first team for him. But, if he does go then (sorry Cupra ) am hoping it's abroad.

I can't see him displacing Riise, as Riise scores a good few goals for Liverpool, on top of his defensive duties.
And his throw ins! But then again, in past seasons Riise has been used in midfield, and when there was only cover of the likes of Traore, then Heinze may have just edged in (!) But he can also stand in as a centre back, which is one of the few positions we are now starting to look a bit short of experienced cover for
