In the company of others I may have said that he was a lazy work-shy individual with no idea of where the goal was and that we were lucky to obtain eleven megapounds from the foolish Everton peeps. I now understand that he is possibly the best striker ever, and an example of money well spent. All power to Moyes for finding something that Southgate couldn't and further proof that foreign coaches are better.
Capitalism is not dead (malheureusment) It just smells funny.
He's one of those players who seems to score a decent amount of goals even though there's no obvious reason why he should, a bit like Adebayor.
I was watching the Arsenal v Newcastle game last week and when rosicky had the bal and was bearing down on goal, Adebayor was screaming at him to pass the ball to him, even though he would have been in an offside position when he would have received the ball, something Rosicky seemed to be telling him. and, when rosicky missed, Adebayor was still berating him for not passing, even though, again, Rosicky was telling him he was offside. A clueless player if ever there was one, who still manages to score goals. Strange
8 in 10 now and Moyes has subbed him in all but 1 of those games so he's only played 90 minutes once... I must admit I had doubts whether he would fit in to our team - you know with Yak that he won't chase lost causes, close down defenders are drop back and help the midfield - these are tactics that Moyes has always looked for in his strikers and what is responsible in the eyes of many fans for the low strike rates of Beattie, McFadden, Johnson etc.. What Yakubu does do though, is score goals. He has a knack of being in the right place at the right time and rarely misses when clean through. You have to accept him for waht he is and play to his strengths - do that and you're almost guaranteed getting on for 20 a season.
In short, feed the Yak and he will score.

Adebayor still has talent though and that's why he scores goals. His goal against Tottenham this season? One against Fulham last season? Showed great ability in both of them.
Not saying he's a great player btw, I don't think he's good enough for Arsenal but he does have a talent.
Oh and I said Yakubu was a good buy. Shame he proved me right.
I'm not saying he's lacking talent, some of his goals have been great. But he's one of those players out of the Yakubu mould; they score goals but their all-round play makes you wonder how they actually do score. Adebayor seems clueless as to the actual rules of the game, especially offside, but still seems to know where the back of the net is
Adebayor is so frustrating to watch. As Andy says he still hasnt got the hang of staying onside. Sometimes he misses the simplest of chances and then scores one you dont expect him to. At the moment he is the best striker we have got when RVP is missing.
I have seen Yakubu being lazy GJ so its not your imagination I guess he needs the right coaching.
The Yak's playing style makes him look lazy and frankly, no - he's not going to chase lost causes and harry defenders. He roams the penalty area awaiting a chance and when it comes, he invariably scores!

I love the way that Harry Redknapp goes and buys every African player that can kick a ball 10 yards and then, when he loses most of his squad for the African Nations cup as he doesn't have the foresight to notice this, then has his CEO appeal that the entire competition be moved to our summer time because of this.

And people wanted him as England manager
he usually goes and signs another 9 players in January to cover the loss of his African players, he alone must be keeping about 8 agents in the style to which they have become accustomed!!
