Once again comrades! Can I just point out that this is the sort of thing that occurs in a Thatcherite market economy. Everything is up for sale in a transnational stylie. Capitalism knows no borders etc. etc. .... *drones on for another sixty minutes*

Once again the evils of Sky and Murdoch's millions are the root of all this. If these clubs weren't earning billions out of TV deals, no foreign owner would touch any of our clubs with a 100ft pole, let alone a 10ft pole

As much as I dislike Murdoch, the blame for 'ruining' football does not lie with his billions poured into the game, but with the greedy selfishness of those founding premiership clubs that thought it was good to pull up the drawbridge and let the rest of the league struggle and keep all the money for themselves. It brings such joy to me to see clubs like leeds implode. Hopefuly Abramovich will get bored and find a new hobby and one day Chelsea will go t1ts up too.

I agree, tnhey're also to blame, but would they have done this without Murdoch's money? Chicken and the egg anyone?

Figures released today showed that Utd and Chelsea have a combined debt of £1.5billion... I think you need to check your sums.

I read that in yesterday's Grauniad. It's amazing isn't it? I have 1.5 bill more than the two combined and yet their lifestyle seems so much better than mine.

If Abramovich left, Chelsea will have no assets as he'd want a lot of his money back. And then there's the debt thing...

But if the selfish, greedy, to55p0ts, had not decided to break away and pull the rug from under the very institution that made them so big then the money would have strengthened football as a whole, rather than just making the rich mega rich and the poor go bump. Premiership greed has left grass roots football in this country in a sorry state. Murdochs money is not the problem, but vile greedy souless clubs and their decision to keep his money all for themselves. I hate the premiership with a passion - it epitimises everything that stinks about football in this country.

I think you're generalising about the Premiership a little here. don't forget who one of the founder members of the Premier League are, Oldham. And also, if I'm not mistaken, QPR, Norwich and Southampton

Not generalising at all. Oldham and the likes are reaping what they have sewn - hopefuly they will rot and go bankrupt.

from one pro to another Chelsea are now the only one of the Premier League's four most powerful clubs to be effectively free of external debt, the debt your talking about is what Chelsea owe Abramovich, Abramovich will never demand them to be repaid as they are converted into shares in Chelsea Football Club Ltd, he paid off all of Bates other debts by mostly euro bonds, but on the books it will show a big debt, like when he loaned Chelsea £270 million to cover losses on top of the £440 million he has spent on acquiring the club in a £140 million takeover, buying players and building a new training centre. Some of the sums might be wrong but hey im not a Chelsea fan, but you get the gist! i.e. roman is their bank, and basically the only way the debt will go is when he goes and all the debt goes on the value of his shares, just have to pay a bit more than the 35 pence a share that he had to pay lol but it would be worth every penny as you'd be buying into and debt free football club. So, if he walks away, and gets the hump, you don't think he'll be asking for any of it back then? It's not like he's a lifelong fan, is it?

I'd expect there would be safeguards in place if he were to leave, and anyway, I'm sure there would be another billionaire waiting in the wings if he did go.
