Some excellent play.. Portsmouth put up a good fight.. but the two wrongly disallowed goals have left a bad taste in my mouth... What a brilliant second goal by Rooney.. just class. -----------------------------

Very one-sided really.
We had a few of our experienced guys out and the youngsters in oru team could not cope.

I really believe that Ronaldo will be a goner in the Summer. The lure of Real Madrid will be too great & I can't see the Glazer's turning down silly money for him. Deep down, he never really wanted to stay, but he has shown great professionalism, knuckled down & played like the CR7 we know.

Better than him being a gooner though Anyhow, similar has been said on another thread. Football is just like the business life in general. If a company comes in who can offer better terms and a better lifestyle they will be gone like a shot. Its the football fans who are often the stupid ones.

Spur-less were totally massacred. If United had wanted 7 or 8 they would have got them. Ferguson took pity on them in the end and took both Ronaldo and Rooney off. Funniest moment; Keane was so crap he still couldn't get past makeshift Goalkeeper John O'Shea even though he was clean through.

I dont think Real Madrid can afford Ronaldo (if Young is worth more than 18 million), dont forget the English clubs have just done a new deal with TV and doubled their income.

And Real have just signed a TV deal worth £900m just for them , thats more than all the english teams together lol

Well they should be able to afford Reyes then... United was still the richest club last year. If you think Ronaldo is going to be cheap then i would think again.
As the EPL has had the bigger slice of the champions league TV payouts because their TV income has been bigger over recent years (just check the UEFA prize money available to see on thier site) does this mean it has changed? I would like to compare the UK deal with Reals, i seriously doubt it is more than the whole EPL put together it was already much bigger than spains and has just doubled.

I don't think they would want him. Three letters.
The past is history...The future a mystery. This moment is a gift...That's why it's the present.

United's player of the year is............................................................................................. Nemanja Vidic! That's right, I'm not crazy!!!! Logic says Ronaldo, some might even say Scholesy, but Vidic has been awesome this season. He's a proper no-nonsens defender who is not afraid of anything. He's also got a good scoring record. Forwards & midfielders get all the credit & defenders are often overlooked. Vidic is the man, trust me!!!!

Yes the 2 January buys of last year who looked aweful at first have beenn very impressive. Vidic is a perfect partner for Rio.

Since as i said the EPL has just signed a new TV deal which dont go into last years figures look to next year. If you want to try and argue that Reals transfers and wages wont take a bigger chunk out of the years 'profit' than Uniteds then carry on. I know they probably wont want to keep Reyes but at the beginning of the season they didnt have the money for him and had to come up with a swap loan deal that was the point i was making.

Sorry another post to add that the UK deal is for £625 million over 3 years and doesnt include the setana/sky or internet deals. According to the BBC over the 3 years combined it is around £2.7bn. Now compare that to Reals (though it is impressive for one club) 7 year £725 million deal (1.1 billion euros converted and generously rounded up by me). Do you still think their TV deal is bigger than the EPL combined?
