What do you lot make of Vieira's comments about 'never eating with Materazzi'? Personally, I have always found Vieira as insufferably self-righteous and egotistical.

Really? I've never really thought of him like that. I always thought thought he came across as a humble quiet bloke when he was at the gooners. I don’t think it’s really a surprise he doesn’t get on with Materazzi – I doubt he’s the only one – I don’t think I’d like him very much. Something you have to say in favour of Vieira-whoa-oh-oh is that he’s obviously got a good professionalism about him – he’s also got bad history with Mihajlovic as well – but he keeps playing and doesn’t kick up any fuss there. There’s plenty of players that leave clubs at the drop of a hat, let alone because they can’t stand members of the playing staff and management (okay, yes, I’m sure he’s not on minimum wage either but still!)

I used to think he had a strong sense of morality but over the past couple of years I've seen a different, rather hypocritical side to him. He's attacked Juve in the press about calciopoli, yet he was happy to stay with the club until they got relegated, highlighting that he was happy to supress these morals until they impacted on his personal career too much. Materazzi doesn't seem like the nicest guy in the world, but what he said to Zidane wasn't particularly offensive, more 'unfriendly banter' and to solely concentrate his comments on how bad that was in provoking a clearly unstable footballer to headbutt him, maybe he should have acknowledged that Zidane's conduct was horrific and deserved the punishment. Didn't he himself try to bully young Manchester United players in the tunnel a few years ago until Roy Keane said something that shut him up?

Yeah he did and when Keano stepped in he shut up pretty quick by all accounts! I don't really see a problem with what he did in the tunnel - it is football after all not cricket on the village green, if I was a United fan I'd be more concerned my players were kind of allowing themselves to be bullied - I'm sure that kind of stuff goes on at some point in most games. I don't know the whole siutation with him and Juve but IMO, I think it was good a few Juve players had a go at Juve over the whole calciopoli business. Not because I wanted to crow but because I think the situation needed input from players – I remember forever reading (on FI and in books) pretty pathetic responses by managers and players to the whole corruption situation – they just wouldn’t condemn it basically, it was always weasling out of it or using words like “delicate” and “complicated”, which clearly did nothing to help change the whole culture of bribery, corruption etc.

I really can understand anyone feeling let down by the previous Juve administration but things I read that were attributed to Vieira didn't seem like inciteful, honest comments on what happened at the club, but stinging attacks from someone who was acting like he'd never been at the club. I feel he tries to project this 'holier than thou' image and it doesn't really wash with me. If he has those feelings then fair enough, but sometimes it's better to keep quiet. Was it really a stroke of genius to say he doesn't like Materazzi, thereby allowing journalists to suggest that all is not well in the Inter dressing room? Especially at a club that, over the years, has had more than its fair share of controversy regarding the spirit of the team. Basically, I don't think he's done you lot any favours

By the way, I agree - I have no problem with what he did in the tunnel on that occasion, it's part of football - but it's really no different to Materazzi saying something less than flattering about Zidane's sister, so I think it's hyprocritical of Vieira.

Football is a wonderful game, especially in Italia. When the ballis hit on the correct dot my God how fast it can travel. Everyone on this forum should know where that dot is as it is always the same in every organisation.

How silly one is sometimes especially when one forgets that the ball always comes before Italia!

I feel it's only right to bring this thread back to Page 1. Especially in light of the dreadful alternative forum that has been launched elsewhere.
