I still don't feel we helped you as much as we should have possibly done. What good are wins at Udinese when you can't aspire to victory against mediocre sides like Siena and Livorno? We took a big leap forwards last week only to reverse it this time out. We're an established team that should, in my opinion, be consistently challenging for Europe. Under Mazzone, this is not the case. However, I don't think he's been decadent enough to sack.

Yet another inspiring Bologna result. Yay! Roll Eyes

Still, it's better than going all the way down there and getting turned over.

Bracey - i see your old mate Guidolin is on the C$ news page fearing a collapse - how do you rate him vs Mazzone ?

First of all, this is not the stuff he should be saying. He should be spouting optimistic statements.

As for a comparison with Mazzone, they're both relatively equal.

In terms of age, Guidolin is obviously much more favourable and a long-term prospect which probably puts him slightly ahead of Carlo.

When he was at Bologna though, he never went about the job with the same enthusiasm as Carlo does. There are times when Mazzone is the extra player, Guidolin was a lot more reserved on the bench.

They are both good at organising defences. Guidolin had started a good trend with Gamberini and Zaccardo and now it's even stronger, albeit with older players like Petruzzi and Torrisi.

Guidolin knew what a good, young player was about. Zaccardo, Cipriani, Gamberini and I'm sure the late Nico Galli would have all formed the core of a great team. Infuriatingly, this backbone was shaken by the sale of Zaccardo. This is not to say that Mazzone is unfaithful to the youth. Without Mazzone, would we have seen Meghni in such fine form? Still, the upper hand is with Guidolin on this one.

Although, as far as financial thrift is concerned, Mazzone is better with money. The shoe-string arrangement has brought in Euro 2004 player of the tournament Theo Zagorakis. Tare has been a good investment overall as I know you'd gladly take him back. And as I mentioned earlier, Petruzzi and co. have been exemplary. Guidolin wasted a fair amount of money on bog-standard players.

So, my conclusion is that Guidolin has good qualities but gets involved in too many personality clashes. He requires a lot of money to do a decent job but if given the money then he will guarantee some success. Mazzone works better with a shoe-string than Guidolin would but there's only so far he can take us. Mazzone's weaknesses revolve around his blind passion for the game and rages on the touchline. His sides also suffer in front of goal.

I've tried to be as balanced as possible but without sitting on the fence, I'd rather have Mazzone than Guidolin. Put it into context (i.e. age), and I'm not so sure he's our man and whether or not we'd have been better with Francesco.

No game this weekend as everyone knows.

Mazzone openly called for games to be postponed.

Now he says he enjoys us being underdogs - idiot.

No excuses for relinquishing a goal lead at home to a mediocre Lazio team.

Although I don't actually think Mazzone will leave for Roma in the summer, but if he were to, who would you think/want to see replace him?

The issue of a long-term successor has stumped the Rossoblu board for a while. My choice: Claudio Ranieri.

For the home end you'll be fine. The ticket office is open on the day of the game, tobacconists sell them too. No need to go for a tout seeing as our fans can't be arsed at the moment.

The away end, I'm not so sure. The lucky thing is that you can get in on the day so the above is a last resort for not getting in the away end but here goes:

1) Loiter around the Brescia end for a while asking for tickets ("Biglietti" in Italian). If you find a tout and can arrange a price then great, if not here's step two..

2) Offer to pay cash on the door.

3) Penultimate resort - Buy a Bologna ticket for our bit of the Curva (unless we've given you the whole end seeing as you travel well and it's a big game for you) and then try to get in the Brescia end with it. If not, well, at least you have a ticket.

Sorry I can't be of more help but the above has been tried, tested and succeeded at various grounds in the past.

Hope you enjoy the game (not too much mind you!) and please let me know how things go.

Edited from FB thread

Bracey

Cracking weekend - Bologna is a fantastic city. The gory details would get me banned !!!!

Took your advice on tickets - walked round the Brescia end and asked around for tickets, but no one had any spare, then tried to blag our way in using cash, security guy said go get tickets for the Bologna curva come back and we will let you in.

But, just as we were walking back round to the Bologna end, one of our Ultras who had seen us walking around without colours on started having a go at us, My Italian is minimal and the dispute just got worse, with the guy ending up taking a swing at one of our lads, so we beat a hasty retreat round to the Bologna end bought tickets for the Curva close to the Brescia fans and sat with your boys instead.

Atmosphere was fantastic Brescia Tifo sang and sang and sang, Don't know how we stayed in our seats when the second went in. But watching from a more Neutral postition. The Match first half was slow with neither side wanting to give much away, best chances of the half went to Bologna and you could have been 3 up by the end of the first half.

Second half we showed a little bit more, and Simone did well to put us ahead. After that we were more composed but still under pressure. andrea C. was a bit dumb having already been booked pulling the keepers shirt, but I thought the keeper was lucky to stay on after he pushed him to the ground.

Still we played much better with ten men and deserved to go 2 ahead. but Bologna kept pressing and I was panicking in the last three minutes after you got back into the game.

Think you have to many points to go down my friend - never fear
