Great game! Not really well played by Piace, but the victory is what it counts. Guardalben man of the match! Bad news though in view of next game. Lamacchi and Mangone will be banned. Hubner and Montano are injured. And Maresca tonight was in the hospital after hitting his head at the end of the game. Good to see Gurenko back on the right. It seems like sunday will be Obolo at front. Young lad, but we need his goals now.
The right does seem to have been a problem all season. I think that since he has lost his place Gurenko has fought well and deserves to claim it back again.
Mangone is the unsung hero of our defence - he does a lot of work. Is Boselli fit? Howevere, I would rather the return of Tramezzani, with Cristante on the playing alongside Cardone, and Abbate and Boselli on the bench.
Caccia and Obolo have never played together. Obolo cannot do any worse than Hubner - I don't even mind missing out on Montano on Sunday, but if he is fit for Lazio, I'm sure we will have Caccia and him up front, with a more defensive player in midfield, possibly Campagnaro.
Our staying in Serie A doesn't depend on the result against Lazio, but the results against the teams around us. I'd rather go down fighting. Lazio are playing in Europe midweek, so perhaps they will be tired.
Lamacchi, Mangone and Tosto to miss the Lazio game through suspension! Hubner and Montano also in doubt - "squadra da inventare", as the papers will say! Looks like Tramezzani should get another chance - if not, he can consider himself no longer a Piace player. Patrascu on the left in place of Tosto? We can hold on for a draw.
well a draw would be a good result considering Lazio's form. Personally i'd like to see the three points.
Must be a good situation for Caccia to get a run in the team. As a proven goal scorer in the lower leagues he might find his game at the highest level- however unlikely it may seem confidence can do incredible things to a striker.
Patrascu on the left? You know more than me but i've considered him to be a more central player. Maybe Tramezzani will get the nod.
Hubner and Montano could be missing for up to 3 weeks! That means we only have 3 fit strikers: Caccia, Obolo and Zerbini, the last 2 young and unproven in Serie A, and Caccia, who is past his best. We might be looking at a few 0:0 until after Christmas.
Important game on Sunday - we need to avoid defeat. Boselli will play in place of Lamacchi, and Obolo and Caccia will start up front. However, Agostinelli hasn't yet decided on the replacement for Tosto.
He tried two formations in a match againt the youth team in training yesterday, the first with Gurenko playing on the left and Cristante on the right. Gurenko played well, but the team looked more balanced once he moved to the right and Tramezzani played in his natual position on the left.
The versatile Cristante should drop to the bench on Sunday, and Tramezzani should really start, although internal politics may prevent it.
Difficult game tomorrow - Lazio is in a good shape and we can play our best team for the occasion. Hope the lads who get the chance to play will close the gap through a braveheart performance. C'mon Obolo get yourself on the Gazzetta's headers on Monday!
The Caccia-Obolo partnership looks good on paper - let's hope the lad can pull it off. Can't really understand why Gurenko/Cristante have been chosen to play instead of Tramezzani, but Paolo will probably leave now, seeing that Agostinelli has again ommitted him from the squad.
Well there you go... snatch defeat from the jaws of victory... What was that all about! Surrendering a 2-0 lead...
Still, we need to beat teams around us, not Lazio, to stay in Serie A.
The Caccia/Obolo partnership looked OK (apparently) so all is not lost. Feel really sorry for Zerbini, who finally gets a game as sub, and then gets injured after 15 minutes!
The first Lazio goal was offside - player standing directly in front of Guardalben - a deflection on the second from a tame header that Guardalben had covered, and Corradi offiside as the cross for the final headed winner came in, but not as he headed it... ahhh!
At least it looked like we put in a good performance - we can perhaps take some comfort in that. Next week Perugia: we need the 3 points, and if we play with the same attitude as Sunday, we should be more than able to take them back to Piacenza with us. We need to stop making silly defensive errors.
Funny how the big teams seem to get the key decisions!
Anyway. Unlucky i guess! Hope Obolo and Caccia can keep it up. I heard Obolo should maybe have scored at least one of his chances but it sounds like the duo are worth persevering with.
Hopefully the bad luck with the refereeing decisions will even out by the end of the season. Will be in touch. Take Care. Forza Piace
We haven't really got much alternative but to continue with the Caccia/Obolo partnership - we have no other strikers! Even Zerbini is out for 3 weeks now!
We could do with not playing Chievo in the Coppa Italia tomorrow night, but there you go: we will have our second team out, but Caccia and Obolo will have to start, and then play again on Sunday (unless Agostinelli goes for a makeshift attack of Campagnaro and Patrascu).
Obolo and Stella (a winger) to play up front. Patrascu in midfield. Abbate to start in defence. Tramezzani on the bench, along with a reserve striker I have never heard of. No Maresca, no Di Francesco, no Cardone, although Lamacchi will probably play... interesting to see the attendance for this 3.30pm kick-off. It will be less than 1000...
1-1 draw in the rain. A game that Piace deserved to win. Apparently, less that 400 spectators (although the weather and early kick-off time must have taken at least 100 off the final figure...!)
I don't think Agostinelli learnt much from the game, other than we just haven't got a good enought squad! Miceli, Campagnaro and Patrascu were probably the reserves who impressed most, although Campagnaro limped off the field with an injury and is probably unavailable for Sunday. Just our luck!
Well, one point away to Perugia isn't bad I guess, especially as, through injuries, we had to play with just the one striker. Caccia even hit the crossbar with a chip towards the end.
I think the team showed character, and now we must get at least 8 points from our next 4 games to face the "ritorno" games with at least 20 points.
We have yet to play Chievo, Reggina, Parma and AC Milan, and I think 2 wins (Chievo at home and Reggina away) and 2 draws are perfectly achievable. Fingers crossed! Perhaps we should just settle for 6 points then...
Good point away. Couldn't watch the game though. Still no goals on away games. There are no questions...next two games must be four points. I'll probably be in Reggio Calabria as one week on saturday I should land in Milan just in time to jump on the overnight train with the ultras!
