I thought we were going to Switzerland to watch Nef play!

We are good enough for the play offs, but won'r make it - I think we will get hammered by Cesena.

You missed a fine team performance against Cesena today. We WENT FOR THE WIN, which mens we are going to give our all for a play off place...

However, 8 points to catch up... but we can start by beating Torino next week: I'll be there!

Not sure where I will be - I've got to meet up with someone before the game. He may be in the Tribuna Centrale. But I'd prefer Curva Nord...

I will let you know.

Hi Davide, I couldn't make the game because of work commitments - I haven't been able to see a single game at the Garilli all season! The sooner we get into Serie A and play on Sunday, the better!
7 points to claw back in 10 games... we can do it, but it will be tough: 7th place it is then.

Good news that the Cremonese game will be on a Monday... I can make Mondays... except for that one, as I will be in Germany!

How you settling in to the new job in Italy? Do you get the Libertà often? Always lots of jobs in your "chosen field" advertised...

I usually scan through Liberta' in the mornng at the bar downstairs when waiting form my cappuccino... A moment which I have missed over the past 8 years in the UK !
Didn't realise about relevant jobs..don't even know when vacancies are advertised but generally they most are about sales jobs...

Was at the game. Not a nice one, but a win which makes the afternoon. Play off still far and I don't have much faith. We should win at Terni and the derby home and then look at the table...

Looking fwrd 4 the derby. Shme that you will miss it !

Libertà has jobs on a Wednesday (not many, between 5-10 of them, you may miss them!) but more on a Sunday.

Hopefully, I can listen to the Cremonese game on Radio Sound... only 5 home games to go, I think, but I want to be at the last one at least, against Arezzo.

...and this is the good thing about Piacenza: bumped into Beppe Iachini in the supermarket today: I said hello, but I don't think he was too happy to be recognised - perhaps he thought I was Reboli!

What a rubbish resut! 2-1 defeat away to Ternana! So much for the play offs...!

Just shows how much Olivi and Patrascu are important to us.

"Largo ai giovani" now. Lets gets the points against Cremonese, and then play some kids for next season.

Olivi was injured and missed the game, Patrascu was suspended (sent off last week).

Did you enjoy the derby win then, Davide?

Play-offs 8 points away with 8 games left to play: a win against Avellino would be nice, but I don't think the teams above us will slip up enough for us to catch them...

Alright Guys

A couple of friends are in italy for the weekend and intending on going to the game on saturday and have asked me if i know anything about the stadium/tickets etc, and I dont, so that's why i'm asking you.

I'm presuming tickets are available at the ground on the day, can you tell me where they can be bought?

Is there a rivalry with Brescia? Wheres the best part of the ground for them to go?

Thanks in advance

There certainly won't be problems getting tickets for the game, although I'm not sure what the situation is with buying tickets on the day: if they are on sale, they will have to show ID, and, as only tickets for the “home ends” (Curva Nord, Gradinata and Tribuna) will be (tickets for the “away end”, the Curva Sud) will not be on sale.

The ticket office is at the end of the Curva Nord, where the ultrà hang out (there will be only about 50 of them, maximum, as the fans are still in dispute with the President and the ultra are "on strike").

There is intense rivalry between the ultrà of Piace and Brescia.

Tickets for the Curva Nord cost 10€, but I wouldn’t advise anyone supporting Brescia to go there! It has 4 “sections”, and section 1 (the front one) and 3 (the middle one) is the one where the ultrà go. Not many people go to section 4. I tend to go into section 2 and section 4. The view is OK, behind, but there is an excellent view from near the back of the stand if you are brave enough to go to the top: when a lot of people are on it, it tends to “wobble”, as the stand is made up entirely of scaffolding, as is the Curva Sud!

The next “hottest” place to go is the Gradinata (were Davide goes): the “older” ultrà, who have now calmed down a bit go there, also because there is a bit of a roof on there, whereas the Curva Nord is totally uncovered. But I don’t really know this stand: the law change in Italy states that you have a seat number and you have to sit in it, but I suspect ticket holders don’t actually stick to ticket numbers, and just walk around to where it is free. But I am sure people get moved on by the stewards if the “genuine” ticket holder turns up.

The view is OK, and along the side of the pitch, but no idea how much that costs. (You may find something about prices here: www.piacenzacalcio.it – there is a section headed “tickets”, that may explain a bit more – there will at least be a map of the ground.)

That stand was built in the close season when Piacenza were first in Serie A: it is very steep, the view is good, but it's a long way up to the back!

The Tribuna too is an OK view: populated by the families, middle aged and older fans. Tickets here are quiet expensive by Serie B standards.

Because of the “dispute” between the organised fans and the club, there will be less than 2,000 people in a stadium that holds 21,000 and the ground is almost entirely open: the atmosphere is terrible just slightly above zero!

But, it should be a decent game: Piacenza are playing OK at the moment, have some interesting players (keeper Cassano, striker Cacia central defenders Campagnaro and Olivi) and Brescia are bound to attack as Zeman always does and they need the points if they want to get into the play-offs.

As for getting there: there is a free shuttle bus from the train station to the ground on match days (I think it is more for away fans than home fans, so they may have to run the gauntlet and dodge the odd bottle and stone…) otherwise, there is ample parking, directly behind the Curva Sud and alongside the Tribuna.

The stadium is just off the tangienzale, so is well sign posted, although the stadium itself is in a residential area, so lots of the roads are blocked off by the police before the game, and also after, but it doesn’t really take long to get out of the ground.

Any more questions, please feel free to ask.

Top paragraph doesnt make sense and I can't edit it, so here it is again, in better English!

Tickets for the “away end”, the Curva Sud, will not be on sale, as far as I am aware

To save a trip to the Piacenza website, the bit your friends will need to know is as follows:

Prevendita: Presso tutte le Agenzie della BANCA DI PIACENZA da Mercoledì 5 Aprile 2006 a Sabato 08 Aprile 2006 (orari sportelli banca). Le biglietterie dello Stadio Garilli apriranno Sabato 08 Aprile 2006 dalle ore 13. (Non verranno posti in vendita i biglietti del Settore Ospiti).

Which basically says that tikets are on sale at brances of the Banca di Piacenza from April 5, "during office hours", and then from 1pm at the ticket office at the ground, on the Saturday of the game. TICKETS FOR THE AWAY END CANNOT BE PURCHASED ON THE DAY. If they want them, they will have to get in touch with someone at Brescia.

Cheers Ivano, you the man!

Certainly more comprehensive than my original advice of "turn up at the stadium and buy tickets".

Thanks again.

Davide, were you at the Brescia game? What did you think of the team performance? 21 points to play for and a 5-point gap to bridge to the play-offs...

I like the new role Iachini has found for Stamilla: it makes us more attacking, just wish we hadn't thrown all those silly points away against Ternana, Avellino and Montova...

Next up: Pescara, with Luisi banned! (Another Piace ex, Speranza, likely to take his place): it's too good to be true... and them a relatively comfortable end of season against teams with nothing to play for before the last 2 games against Modena and Arezzo... what do you think? Can we do it?

I think we can - but I doubt we will. We will drop just enough points (on purpose?) to keep the fans interested and the play-offs within arms reach... 7th place it will be, 2 points off 6th place, you wait and see!
