I think someone should go to the World Cup. Wouldn't be much good if everyone stayed away. No matches. No fans. No riots.

Simple thing is if you are scoring goals reguarly domestically then you should go. I don't like Inzaghi but i think he should go as he is consistently scoring and doing alright.

Vieri is just a lump and i cannot see cassano doing anything either so no to those 2 but Inzaghi yes.

Inzaghi has to go the world cup!

I am absolutely sick of debating with people who don't rate Inzaghi. I have been sticking up for him for 10 years now. Those that don't rate him ('Giallorosso' and 'Giovanni Lavafiume' for example) know absolutely NOTHING about football! I have been watching football obsessively for over 20 years and I challenge anyone to give me the name of a striker past or present with better movement, positioning, reactions and anticipation than Inzaghi. The way that Inzaghi loses his markers, the way he robs that half a yard from a defender in the box is something that no striker in world football gets even close to (crespo perhaps closer than anyone).

With players in the team with such great vision and creativity such as Totti and Pirlo - Inzaghi is a must not only in the squad but in the first eleven. His movement creates opportunities for passes and through balls from these players that the stationary and somewhat overated Gilardino can not.

Inzaghi is a defenders nightmare - he is impossible to pick up - and although he does miss chances - it is his movement that creates these chances. This is what Inzaghi critics are too dumb to understand. The reason Inzaghi has so many chances and so called 'tap ins' is because his incomparable movement gets him into positions that other strikers would not be in. It should also be noted that about 50% of offside decisions given against him are often incorrect and the other 50% either very marginal or as a result of a delayed pass. Watch videos of Inzaghi games and you will see this is true.

Finally on a less technical note - Inzaghi has the heart and desire to win that Italian players so often lack. He never gives up and keeps moving and making runs till the last minute. He is also fresh having only played half a season.It is no coicidence either in my opinion that Italy's best performance in the last 12 years at Euro 2000 was a team with Inzaghi in. With Inzaghi playing we wont be tempted to do long balls all the time like we often did when Vieri played. At Euro 2000 we played a short passing game (with Totti and Albertini picking out Inzaghi runs) and were excellent. I fear that with Gilardino and Toni up front we might be tempted to do more long balls when things are going our way in games. As for Vieri - i think even his own mother would admit that he is not even good enough to play in Serie C. If he goes to the World Cup it will be quite ridiculous, and a show of pathetic stubborness on the part of Lippi. He was a great player but he has been finished for at least 2 years. As for Iaquinta I think he is a good player but has just lost the plot this season and certainly should not be called up either.

Inzaghi is a goalscoring genius. Those of you who dont rate him know absolutely !!NOTHING!! about football and are not fit to debate on the subject!!!

I'd say he is very good at what he does as the kind of striker he is. Wouldn't rate him as one of the best in the world or anything but when it comes to making a movement into the 6 yard box and going for goal he is (usually) pretty decent at it.

so how many strikers will go to the world cup and who will they be, because you've got gilardino, toni, del piero, totti??, then maybe inzaghi, lucarelli, tavano???
