Chivu arrived back yesterday... switched plans to avoid the fans so he arrived 5 hours earlier than planned... entered Trigoria through a secondary gate.. they had the Riot police surrounding Trigoria as they were expecting protests from fans... its 40 degrees here so everyone was at the beach....

The front page of this site says Ludovic Giuly will sign today for 2.8 mil. That sounds like a great move to me. Giuly has been outstanding for Barca in the Champions League these las few years. He will slot in nicely in the Taddei/Mancini positions.
I was surprised to learn that he's 31, but at least we haven't paid much for him.
Apparently Juan was outstanding in Brazil's Copa America win.
How do you people see the first XI for the start of the season? I'd guess:
Doni; Panucci, Mexes, Juan, Tonetto; De Rossi, Pizarro; Taddei, Perrotta, Mancini; Totti
with Giuly, Vucinic, Cassetti, Esposito and Aquilani on the bench.

What about Ferrari? Spalletti says he will play Chivu too.. although im not sure that he will.

I like Giuly - he has always been quite underrated at Barcelona but he is a tricky and clever footballer. I think he will fit in better in our system than that of Barca. A good buy if he settles in quickly.

How come you guys don't appear to have Guilly in your team? As Roma usually play without a proper forward, I'd imagine Guilly is the nearest thing to a forward in the side, as he played further up at Monaco.

I left Giuly out so that I could include Taddei. I think Taddei's been amazing for Roma the last two seasons. But to be honest, Giuly is probably a better player. I would start with Taddei as first-choice, but by Xmas I'd expect Giuly to have taken his place in the side.

Giuly, nice signing but a bit of a strange one since we don't really need another player in that place, is it all actually official? I got a few copies of gazzetta dello sport whilst away but as i only really cared about the roma news mum stopped buying them cos i'd only read a few articles!

Giuly is deffo Rosa. Why do u think we dont need a player in that position? We only got Taddei and Mancini, thats why we had Wilhelm and Tav last season who both flopped. Rosi could possibly provide some cover but not in same class (yet!) as Giuly. I think we have Alvarez back tho he wasnt that impressive 2 seasons back.

It was in one of the various chivu stories i think, something about him going to monaco. Seemed strange, although since no-one else has heard anything it was probably just a rumour.
