To me, complaining about flags or excessive support of a national side in the WC is not indicative of conditions in that country; rather, it's indicative of the life experience of the observer. How many other countries have you visited during the WC? If it's more than zero, I shall have a debate with you. Else, shut up, and get a life.
I don't really understand what point you're trying to make at all here? You have to have to be Phileas Fogg to be able to pass comment about anything in your country? Who said anything about how it was indicative about conditions in a country? I think it's all a bit more simple than that to be honest with you - I reckon a lot of people just think it's just tacky and sad (whether you agree or not) then you've probably got a load of people who think it's jingoistic or something.
I'm sure there are tonnes of flags about in Germany, Italy, France or whereever but are you suggesting that there's not one soul in their whole population who feels the same way about flags everywhere as loads of people here evidently do?
