So what you're trying to tell us is that, by trying to get close to this bint you were attempting to pump, you've actually found a deep and meaningful relationship with her brother?

That's trippy, but congratulations on finally winning that man you've always deserved.

I'll be so content once I achieve the 3 G's: -
Girl, Guitar, Gold
Girl and guitar tend to swap places quite a lot in my order of importance lol. Big Grin
Once I get a girl, become a grade 8 on guitar (man, that could take a while) and acquire some dough, then I'll be pretty darned content with myself. All these things can be tied into each other - join a good band, get a fan club, a goldmine for people who love me, get bigger, and so gold comes pouring in. Wink

cheers folks Smile it felt a big relief more than anything!

blackandblue - there's quite a few things I'd like to do really - teaching animals to ride bikes has got to be a priority though, I just worry whether I can really do it

Like those camp, self-deluding wallys in Las Vegas Big Grin! One of them got half eaten by a White Tiger. Muppet. If they had so much love for tigers, why were they part of a show Roll Eyes? Don't do it, Shaker!

It was a Bad Thing. We had been trying for six weeks to get two debit cards for our joint shopping account. The bank kept screwing up big time, loosing details, repeating forms, not getting in contact. So in the end we had a visit at 830pm last night from the branch manager Eek. He apologised profusely, sorted out our details, gave us a credit of £75 and a bottle of Moet Eek Big Grin! Which was nice.

Remember to keep all records, all names and all times of bad service and they haven't got a leg to stand on.

Hey, 5-star, do you want to start a band? I'm getting an image of you as Angus Young from AC/DC, complete with short trousers. I'm more of a Shane McGowan from The Pogues, but things could work out. Are there any other forumites who can play an instrument, other than the pink oboe?

If we could meet up somehow, then cool!

HSBC. Before the other day the service was unbelievably bad, even though the missus is a 'Premier' customer. Hopefully everything is now sorted. She is also getting lousy service from Orange. If they don't sort it after 3 MONTHS Mad she has told them to take the phone back. Another company she has been with for ages.

Serena Williams annihilating Maria Screamapova was the single greatest thing in tennis since Pete Sampras annihilated Andre Agassi in the 1999 Wimbledon final. Happy days!

I must have been lucky with HSBC, B&B - they've been very good.

Orange, on the other hand...

God, their technical service plumbs depths the Marianas Trench would find daunting. Their dial-up internet service was OK; Mrs Dave & I stuck with it to the point where we felt that we were luddites for doing so (no need for anything more for home use, to be frank), and 'upgraded' to their broadband.

After waiting a week longer than we should've, we got the broadband kit. It didn't work. We phoned them. Janet & John script reading then follows. Problem is not solved. Mmmm. An idea. The previous owner of the house, we say, had installed an intresting all-singing all dancing ISDN/ADL/Tea Making/weather forecasting/etc device which had led to the phone line installation in the house being unconventional. Might this be the problem?

No, we were told.

Three weeks later...

Mrs Dave is on the phone to technical support to ask if they might, be willing to do something other than read from a script.

Mrs Dave: No, the lights on the Livebox are still stuck solid

Technical Support: No, Mrs Dave, they are not. They are flashing, and showing that you are working.

Mrs D. Er, no, they're not.

TS: Yes they are.

Mrs D. No, the lights are on solidly.

TS: You're wrong, I'm afraid.

Mrs D. Forgive me. Where are you? I'd guess you're based in India?

TS: Yes, Mrs Dave.

Mrs D: And where, exactly, am I?

TS: Er. At home, Mrs D.

Mrs D: Correct. Standing three feet away from the Livebox. Which of us can see the Livebox?

TS: You can, Mrs Dave.

Mrs D: So when I tell you that the lights are stuck solid and not flashing, is it safe to assume that...

TS: ... you are mistaken, Mrs Dave.

At this point, Mrs D demands to speak to a supervisor and puts me on the phone. A rather terse conversation, delivered in the style of the notes I sent to students who failed to turn up to seminars (Gio has seen such notes and can explain exactly how terse...) then ensued.

Two days later, an engineer was sent (as demanded), although no-one bothered to tell us, and had he arrived five minutes later, we'd have been out.

Engineer (first competent person we've dealt with during saga - he doesn't work for Orange, but is an independent contractor) looks at phone set up.

Engineer: Mmmm. That ISDN/ADL/Tea Making/Weather forcasting/etc box line is your problem. I'll disconnect it for you. Seven minutes later, our Broadband is working.

I am still awaiting a reply from the Customer Service Director of Orange to my suggestion that his technical support persons are a bunch of useless, idle onanists who are about as much use as a one-legged man in a backside-kicking context...
