wow 39 points got a team relgated from seria B and 46 points got them a play off........

Thats 69 and 76 points (if we use last years points as benchmark) needed by juve becuase of the point deductions not to go down Eek

From what I heard Fiorentina's crime relates to last season when it is alleged that match-fixing went on towards the end of the campaign to avoid relegation.

I'm well chuffed for Chievo and Palermo and the new UEFA entrants, especially Empoli and I'm pretty chuffed for the un-relegated sides too. Three Sicilian teams as well - some nice derby games going on there - siciliano698 who hates who the most on sicily?

I hope Treviso improve a bit though - another season of spankings isn't going to be too much fun for players and fans

I'm sorry for the fans of the punished club, although the punishment had to be hard so it does not go on in future.

Putting the club punishments aside. How on earth is Moggi able to get involved in football again after 5 years? He should be banned for life. The same for Di Santis, how can he referee again?

I expected relegation, but not the 30 point deduction as well which I feel is way over the top. By deducting that many points they're punishing fans and players who are completely innocent in all of this.

I also cannot believe that Moggi and Giraudo are only banned for 5 years. Ban them for life, and lock them up. They're the real criminals in all of this.

Forza Juve!!!

i think the ban on Juve is cruel just put them in serie C not in B and almost certain to be relegated to C a year later.

Glad for Parma <3

I'm hopeful that the 30 points will be reduced on appeal and that there is an outside shot of a play off place if Deschamps sorts the team out and gets it to grind out victory after victory. Problem is that every side in B will be treating playing Juve as a cup final game...

ADP 06/07 - 23 goals

217 not out!!!!!!!!

With Juve's record breaking crowd figures, even for the games against the smallest Serie A clubs, will this continue in B? Razz

It's hardly the fault of the Juve supporters that Juve is not as well supported in the city as Torino are.

Juve's supporters are more spread out over Italy so Juve get good away support.

Juve are more a club of Italy as opposed to a club of a city or region, which most other clubs would be.

Juve will get good away support in Serie B.

Besides getting between 35000-45000 for home support is hardly that bad anyway. It's just because we played in a stadium that is too big a capacity compared to the demand within Turin but this is not Juve club fault, the city council would not let us renovate the Communale because the councillors are Torino supporters.

Well, speaking as a Viola fan, ouch.

I guess there has to be punishment for the good of the game, and for justice in general. But I agree with several other posters that the current punishments are poorly targetted. Demotion punishes the blameless fans, and to a lesser extent the players who stay (i.e. the more admirable ones).

I'd have liked to see people who actually conspired in fixing -- directors, management, referees -- in jail for fraud. For years. These bans are pathetic. Heck, one or two of them may cover the loss of income from interview fees and ghost-written books, and end up making a profit.

Anyone know what happened to the rumoured referee kidnapping charge?

I'm surprised that the Serie B clubs haven't really had much to say about this.

If I was a fan of Bologna, Brescia or Modena, I would be 'rather peeved' that I had Lazio, Fiorentina and (perhaps to a lesser extent) Juventus to contend with in an already difficult league. It's not really fair on them, is it?

Am I right in thinking that Messina, Lecce and Treviso will remain in Serie A with Atalanta, Catania and Torino joining them in place of the executed three?

Also, do we know for sure that Eurosport have the broadcast rights to Serie B next season? I would imagine that the majority of the rather suspect TV deals of last year will be reviewed, with broadcast rights for Serie B being as sought after as the rights for Serie A...

i see the Bologna president is looking to get them back in serie A as a result of the scandal outcome.I would say both they and Brescia would have a case,it was so tight when they went down that any "bizarre"goings on that season could have done for them in the end.
I think they should be allowed back up

Its amusing how teams that really werent good enough are trying to profit from the trial...Inter claiming titles they didnt win because they werent good enough, relegated sides calling to stay up, serie B sides claiming they should be promoted and so on and so forth...

I wonder if it doesnt feel a tad embarassing for fans of the clubs concerned...theres not a great deal of dignity in it, after all... Red Face

I see what youre saying.I personally think that none of this seasons bottom 3 serie A teams should get to stay up as they were all so bad and ,in Lecce and Trevisos case, detached so early on.These teams were heading down no matter what shenanigans occured elsewhere.
In the case of the teams relegated in 04/05,however,all but Atalanta went right to the wire and the margins of staying up/going down were slim and that is why i think these teams should at least be considered to be reinstated to serie A.I think im correct in saying, for example, that in Bolognas case there was a highly contentious home game vs Juve where they had key players suspended and there were some very questionable decisions in Juves favour.Brescia,on the other hand, had a relegation last game decider away to one of the other guilty parties,Fiorentina(although Brescia simply never seemed to turn up on the day)
What is pitiful is Milan attempting to take the UEFA place from Empoli, pathetic.Compared to the other 3 they got of lightly, why dont they just thank their lucky stars and take their punishment like men.
Id like to point out that i am not a Bologna or Brescia fan.

Lens are being a little opportunistic, aren't they? I mean, the relegations mean that Roma, Chievo and Palermo officially 'finished' 2nd, 3rd and 4th and it doesn't have anything to do with any French teams.
