Nike with light blue and white stripes below the sponsor and a funny (uncomfortable) round collar with wings. I had that shirt, but I don't know where it has gone. I think that was 95-96, Arsenal had a shirt in a similar style, but without the stripes (obviously). I thought it was very cool and distinctly unusual at the time. il ferret, Deportivo Wanka are so passé mate, get onto a team that wins things, like Once Caldas. I've adopted Velez Sarsfield as my Argentinian team, but their current strip is a bit rubbish. I rather like my Temuco shirt, but it's a funny shape. I think S. American shirts tend to be strangely made, but it could just be that one. Can anyone explain why France, a team who normally wear blue, and Hungary, usually in red, both turned up in their traditional change kits of all white? Did they forget which team was the home side? Did international relations really impinge on the France-Kuwait game or are you just being a (very) smartarse, Dave?

Presumably, France wrongly believed they had to wear their change kit. Hungary rightly thought the same thing

<Feigned innocence on> Me? Smartarse? <innocence off>.
No, international relations had no role to play in the game. If Kuwait *had* bought nuclear weapons as a result of the French team throwing the match (which they didn't), I suspect that events since 1991 would have been very different (and Bagdhad very radioactive). The only diplomatic aspect was the Prince, who would presumably have had diplomatic credentials, storming on to the pitch and getting the 'goal' disallowed.
<Thinks> Am I being lured into a trap here by the even more smartly-arsed Markieboy?
As I recall (although based on the quality of my recollections from 27 years ago so far on this thread, that might be meaningless), as IJ suggests, France thought that they were the 'away' team when Hungary were - so the French brought the wrong shirts.

Football shirts only look good with shorts and socks IMO. When i was 6-12 years old i used to dress up in full kit (i had Everton, USSR and Argentina kits). It stopped there.
I've got two shirts that were brought for me that i wear around the house. Apart from that i have no interest in football shirts or any official club clothing. I actually think football shirts look sh1t with jeans etc.

I *can't* be more smartarsed than you, I only have one degree (at the moment) and as you can guess, it's not in international relations. Actually, no it wasn't a trap, I genuinely wanted to know whether a team forgot whether they were the home or the away team. Of course, what do you expect of the French! If I was really smartarsed, I'd make some comment about the last time the French forgot which side they were on. I won't.

I know what you mean, but isn't it annoying when you do see chavs wearing Inter shirts (or whatever club you support), who clearly have no passion whatsoever for the club? Saying that though, I would love to have this. Stuff of legends.
I would also love to have that!

Werder Bremen's kit looks interesting. I wouldn't mind wearing that . Reminds me of a Miami Hurricanes baseball cap I used to wear.

it's horrible. The players have to wear it but why would anyone else?

That is minging. I like the shape of Kappa shirts, but the colours clash horrifically.

What about the old kits you can get from TOFFS? I have to say, I rather like some of those. And they are warm (with no sponsors logos)

There used to be a tiny little shop at the bottom of Charing Cross Road called 'World of Football' (I think it's a tiny little travel agents now), and I got myself a 1950's Fiorentina shirt and a 1960's Italy shirt with number 20 on the back from there. They cost about half the price of modern (and often rubbish) shirts, and never really go out of style. I must confess that I've had every Man United home shirt for the last 17 years, along with most Scotland shirts and a couple of Fiorentina shirts. I sure as fook don't wear them 'out' though, they're really just for dossing about the flat in or nipping down the offy...

What's dodgy about it? I just thought it was a bit different. I've been known to be wrong in the past...
