I've heard that rumour too, but it was more like a redevelopment of the Artemio Franchi as opposed to a brand new stadium.
The capacity would be increased to around 60,000, and I honestly think we wouldn't have much difficulty filling that for every home game.
As for DDV being able to fund a stadium himself, I'm not sure about that. I don't know how much dosh DDV has got tucked away, but I suspect if he built a new stadium there wouldn't be much left for players and wages.
Even if he could afford to build a stadium, he probably wouldn't want to. He would probably seek funds from the local government, and also a corporate tie-up.
Yeah. I think La Viola were to get a new stadium (I don't think a renovation of the Artemio Franchi would be worth it or plausible) would really drag in more fans.
Get a roof over everyone and better facilities and you would see 50,000 per game.
Personally, I think we'd find it hard to sell 60,000 tickets for every game. Against Juve, Inter or Milan, certainly. But against Reggina or Ascoli? Probably not.
Hope it will not be built so big or there will be many empty seats like Delle Alpi. It will affect the Great Atmosphere. Artemio Frachi contains the greatest ardor and best atmosphere now. I am very proud of it
Alright, alright... "fill it" was maybe a step too far, but if we had a stadium that could seat 60,000 supporters, I think we would average high 40,000's or low 50,000's.
We never played in Serie C1 - but yes, we did get excellent attendences in Serie C2, for sure. Still not convinced about 40,000 plus average attendence though.
I completely agree...you would not easily fill a 60 000 seater stadium... Roma usually has one of the highest attendences in Serie A and we only fill the stadium for games against Lazio, Milan, Juve and Inter...
There has been talk of building a new stadium in rome for ages... it will never happen.. this is italy!

You have to be realistic about attendances..I talk the Italian game up so much over here in England ,yet when people actually watch games on Bravo and see the attendences at Ascoli,Empoli,Leece,Siena(and Inter/Milan home games) etc it's hard to justify your passion.I'd sooner see a tight compact stadium of 45000 capacity at Viola than something like the Delle Empty every week .The Rome derby's live on English TV soon and I hope that there's no empty seats..fill it with flares, fun and passion ..and by the way..as an Inter fan I'm glad (apart from last Wednesday) your doin' so well...
It has alot to do with ticket prices...and sky. I pay 365 euro for my season ticket, which to me, knowing prices in the UK, is not alot. But when you think that most Italians only earn 1000 euro a month it is expensive to them. Tickets for the Derby can cost up to 100 euro, especially since most of the cheaper seats are taken by season ticket holders. Tickets are only 10 euro for our UEFA Cup match next week so at least Roma are trying to pull the crowds back in. You can now also get alot of the games on Digital terrestrial tv for only 5 euro, which doesnt help. On top of this Stadiums here are not the safest of places to go especially with a family. As for the Delle Alpi it will never be full... all the Juventini live the South....
I always wish clubs would do eveything they can to stay in their old grounds, I suppose unless the fans really don't care, but they usually do I think. Most clubs now seem desperate for a new stadium all the time in the UK, more and more are just going to end up with soul-less dumps like the Riverside, I look at that ground and think it looks like some lego stadium or something. There are some nice new stadiums I suppose, the Reebok is good
I was annoyed when I found out that FC Bayern were to leave the Olympiastadion, as I liked that stadium, but fook me, the Allianz Arena is pretty damn cool...
