As most of you will know, Micky (aka Snow_Patrol) went on holidays in September to Thailand. While on holidays he tragically discovered that his parents had been killed in a car accident in Leicestershire.
Obviously Micky and his brother (who viewed the forum although didn't post) would be in massive shock since. I often heard at funerals that after the first month is when the void really tends to sink in as less people visit the house as time goes on and the emptiness left behind by a deceased parent is really felt even more so. For both parents to have passed away so suddenly and tragically must multipy that emptiness beyond proportions.
Hopefully most of us on this forum have not had to deal with a loss of such large scale because of it been both parents and due to its sudden occurance. I cannot even begin to imagine how Micky and his brother must be feeling for this last month and for the coming months.
I offer my deepest sympathies to Micky and his brother as they try to get through this difficult time in their life.
Micky said he may not get much of a chance to view the forum, but i'm sure himself and his brother will appreciate any condolences offered.
R.I.P. Mr and Mrs Hastings.
I'll leave the last word to Micky - "It seems strange wanting to talk about and get back to watching football. When you hear people involved in football talk after something bad happens in life they always say "football is so insignificant at a time like this", to me right now it is a welcome relief, well that and throwing myself into work."
Tragic. My deepest condolences go to Micky and his brother. I'm sure I speak for everyone on here when I offer my deepest sympathies and we will all try to offer the best shoulder of comfort that we can.
Thanks to Myles for breaking the news so carefully and appropriately as well.
I can only half begin to know what this feels like as I lost my mother 6 years ago, but to lose both of them at the same time is a real tragedy.
To be honest what made my situation worse was to be told that my mother had died , whilst in the middle of a shift at work, and then to go to the hospital and see she was still alive (which to say the least was messing my head up a bit), didn't prepare me for then eventual end, which happened 3-4 weeks later.
It's still a shock to the system when your parent dies before they should do, especially when it is unexpected.
My condolences go you Micky and your brother and if you ever need to chat just let me know.
