Just to let you all know that the race went well for me and all of the other runners for Marcello on Sunday. Altogether we've raised about £1500 thanks to everyone's donations.

I still can't believe there were 4 more fatalities at the vent with one man as young as 28. Another had run the race 24 times before so it wasn't down to inexperience and not been fully prepared - I mean this was an experienced runner like Marcello. Hopefully there are big changes afoot preparing for any emergencies in the years to come.

Anyway, thank you again to everyone for your generosity and please remember Marcello next Monday (26th September) when not is it his first anniversary but his 36 1/2th birthday.

Thank you once again for your contributions for Cancer Research UK in memory of our friend. A massive £100 was contributed from you all and it has been really touching to also read your kind remarks.

Marcello's family will be remembering him today at a special mass. If I had known, I would have been there.

Keep him in your thoughts at 12.15 when he fell.

Dear all,

The donations page is now at a staggering £273.05 thanks to everyone who has contributed over the last fortnight.

The further rise of £173.05 was due to Verno adding the money donated to charity in his memory last year (£170 and £3.05 interest!) for which I am very grateful and so also will Cancer Research. A list of the people who donated is being sent to me for recognition. Thank you all again.

My personal total will now be over £700 which is just incredible. I don't even think Marcello himself would have realised how much you all appreciated him and his witty, if sometimes critical, remarks. I'm sure he's sussed out the Rangers and Inter fans up there and really rubbing their noses in it regularly.

Just to add, his Mum let me know that over 200 people attended his memorial mass on Monday and I also extended all of your thoughts and messages to her too showing that we were all there in spirit for him too.
