I thought I'd read that they'd been forced to accept all types of card but, having recently applied, realise that you can still only use Mastercard. There is an option to pay by bank transfer isn't there? I've got Mastercard so no problems for me.

i did choose bank transfer myself but this is from the world cup website which got me kind of confused.

The following methods of bank transfer will be available:
a.) Payment by EU standard bank transfer. You must have a bank account in one of the EU member states outside of Germany, in one of the countries which has established the Euro as the national currency, or in one of the EFTA countries - Norway, Liechtenstein and Iceland. When you indicate the IBAN and BIC, you can generally process your application at the costs of a domestic bank transfer.
b.) Payment by foreign bank transfer (called a OUR bank transfer). You must have a bank account outside of the following countries: EU member states, countries which have established the Euro as a national currency; or EFTA countries - Norway, Lichtenstein, Iceland. In this case, you must assume all bank transfer costs (the sending bank, recipient bank, and any clearing bank costs), and ensure that the amount received by us is the same as the amount we invoiced you, without deductions for any such costs.

does this mean they only accept bank transfer if the country you live in has the euro as the national currency.

I assume that you can pay by bank transfer as the UK is in the EU. You could try e-mailing the help function on the site, I found them quite useful last year. I'll post a link if I can find it.

I wasn't thinking about going to Germany 2006, seeing as Scotland didn't qualify, but I heard a whisper today that a company my company works with (large Dutch bank, proud sponsors of Ajax) may have free tickets for Holland games.

I might be tempted if I can get my hands on a couple...

Argentina v Holland could be a bit tasty. Had Holland been drawn number 3 in the group and not number 4 I'd be off to see that match. As it is, I'll be watching Argentina v Serbia instead.

I've enough caps via EnglandFans to get tickets for all of Englands games.

Also got a ticket for Brazil v Oz but I'll most likely flog that to finance the trips back and forth to home(s).

I took the road less well travelled.

Boo to the World Cup Ticket Office for rejecting my latest application. I contacted them in November asking if I could apply for a different category ticket this time, as we are now travelling with friends. One long and convoluted message later seemed to indicate that we could.

Got a short e-mail this morning saying the application had been rejected as we had already been allocated tickets in a different category. Why couldn't they have told me that in the 1st place?!

At least I still have time to submit a correct application.

I'm sure I've read somewhere that tickets won't be posted to addresses outside Germany and that tickets will have to be collected at the stadiums. You might have to visit the relevant stadium to collect your tickets before you can sell them.

If that's true, then it's a load of absolute crap. Sure, that way would certainly curb the ticket tout problem, but it is also a major inconvenience for many fans, I imagine.

Not that it effects me, The Republic of Ireland aren't going to Germany. And we don't deserve to because we were muck during the qualifying campaign.

No mate. Tickets are delivered.

England tickets to my UK address as they are via the official supporters club and Brazil tickets via Italian address as they are from the first FIFA ticket ballot with the old trusty Mastercard.

I read the site again, and the non-delivery is only for conditional tickets. I got my Argentina - Serbia tickets via the first ballot.
