And, if anyone's sad enough to be interested, those are the scores from each week. Smile

This isn't me being bitter about not winning today (Jay led practically the whole season, and there's no way I could have overturned a deficit of 3 points in one week).

But it got me thinking...hypotetically, player A has 2 more points than player B going into the last round...if player A submits his predictions earlier, player B can copy them (or change 1 prediction) and be assured of winning. Seems a bit unfair.

I also think that would be a good idea. I remember last season going into the final round I was 5 points behind Giovanni I think, and I waited for him to post his predictions so when I posted mine they were as different as possible, therefore giving me a chance of winning, even though that seemed unlikely. I caught up 2 points in the end, but that probably wouldn't have happened had I predicted normally.

Well done again to Jay, and thank you to everybody apart from me who has worked on this year's championship. I'm fairly pleased with my 4th position, but I'm confident I can win next year.

Forza Juve!!!

OK, so there's a fairly obvious error in what I've written, but you get the point...

I agree. Perhaps we could submit the last 4 weeks predictions by e-mail.

2006/07 Season

Now that the fixtures are set and Serie A doesn't look like it will be delayed, the Week 1 slip will be posted on Friday after it is known whether or not the Lazio TAR has put an injunction on the start of the new season in relation to Juve's civil action.

MARCELLO CHICARELLA CHAMPIONSHIP 2006/07 - RULES

Administrators 2006/07 season
Table compiler – Michael_La_Viola
Marker – Liam
Marker – Myles2
Back-up marker - To be appointed.
Assistant – Duffman, pending on confirmation.
Regulation Administrator – Myles2

The Regulation Administrator will be responsible for driving any issues relating to Indiscipline, Appeals and Rule Amendments/New rules via e-mail with the other administrators and will decide whether discussion and votes is deemed necessary by all the administrators.

We are not a judicial system nor do we have the resources or the desire to be one, so instead of having rules to cater for every participant who finds loop-holes to get off on technicalities, rather we have a Regulation Administrator that decides on whether to bother with every technicality being discussed and voted on (and in the process taken up our time). The Regulation Administrator will use common-sense (as he see's it) to decide if some participants appeals are just nit-picking and nonsense. Some participants might deem this draconian, but we don't have the time to be a totally democratic judicial systems. So a 'Regulation Administrator' was proposed, with the power to throw-out any appeal or rule proposal that is not necessary to be discussed and voted-on.

1. How to Play

  • 1 a. Predict results on the forum using the appropriate Marcello Chicarella Championship – Week thread which corresponds to the Serie A week
    (e.g. Marcello Chicarella Championship - Week 1).

  • 1 b. Predict results using the letters H (home), A (Away) and D (Draw) which correspond to your prediction.
    (E.g. Milan - Inter … D
For Milan and Inter to draw the game in the San Siro.)
    Other letters or numbers
    (i.e. 1, 2 and X)
will not score points. Predicting scores (i.e. 0-0, 1-0, 1-2, etc.) will not score points.
  • 1 c. Predictions for the last 4 weeks of the season can be submitted via e-mail to forumpredictions@yahoo.co.uk, and your predictions will only be posted on the forum after all the games for the corresponding week are over, however you can still post your predictions on the forum if you do not wish to hide your predictions.

2. How to Score Points

  • 2 a. 1 point is scored for each result predicted correctly.
  • 2 b. 0 points is awarded for each result predicted incorrectly.
  • 2 c. Your score for each week is added to your accumulated score of the previous weeks.

3. The Deadline for Predictions
  • The deadline for predicting results is 1 minute before the kickoff time (GMT) of the first game(s) of each Serie A week.
Eg.1 - If the first game(s) is Saturday at 17:00 hours (GMT), then predictions will be accepted upto and on the time of 16:59 hours (GMT).
Eg.2 - If the first game(s) of midweek fixtures is Wednesday at 19:30 hours (GMT), then predictions will be accepted upto and on the time of 19:29 hours (GMT).

4. Postponed/Suspended Matches and Voided Results
  • 4 a. If a match result is changed or voided by the FIGC or otherwise, your score will be altered to correspond with the official result.
  • 4 b. If a match is postponed or suspended before or during the match and the game is not replayed, then the result used for accumulating your score will be the result made official by the FIGC.
  • 4 c. If a match is postponed or suspended before or during the match and the game is replayed, then participants can submit new predictions for the re-arranged game.

5. Participants Absent
  • 5 a. If you are absent from the forum, post predictions in advance on the Marcello Chicarella Championship Thread.
  • 5 b. Participants who do not post predictions for 4 consecutive weeks will be withdrawn from the Marcello Chicarella Championship at the Regulation Administrators’ discretion.

6. Participants Posting the Table

  • 6 a. Any Participant may take the initiative of posting all the weekly scores and the whole table before an administrator.
  • 6 b. Participants cannot post only part of the scores/table as this undermines the role of other participants whom are not included in a part-table.

The administrators understand that delays in posting the whole table are frustrating to the participants. There is a structured process to compiling the weekly table by the administrators, however, sometimes an administrator may be unavailable to complete his role in the process within a desired timeframe due to personal commitments, which take priority (i.e. work or study).

7. Tie-break

  • In the event of a tie-break in the table after week 38, between two or more participants. The winner will be the participant who predicted the highest score for the most amount of weeks, and so on in descending order. Thereafter, if more than one participant is still tied, more than one winner will be declared.

8. Indiscipline on Marcello Chicarella Championship threads.

  • 8 a. Participants will be either deducted points or expelled from the Marcello Chicarella Championship at the discretion of the Administrators.
  • 8 b. ‘Friendly slagging’ or ‘banter’ which incorporates swearing will not be disciplined if not deemed to warrant a deletion of a prediction thread, at the discretion of the administrators.
  • 8 c. Proceeding with, and the form of processing disciplinary procedures is at the discretion of the Regulation Administrator.

9. Appeals

  • 9 a. Incorrect scores should be highlighted on a Marcello Chicarella Championship thread.
  • 9 b. A participant can appeal disciplinary action taken on him/herself, with at least one reason of appealing (i.e. unfairness, evidence, etc.).
  • 9 c. A participant can appeal by posting on the Marcello Chicarella Championship thread
  • 9 d. A participant cannot appeal late predictions, regardless of forum technicality, no Internet access, holidays, bereavement, apologies or otherwise.
  • 9 e. Proceeding with, and the form of processing an appeal is at the discretion of the Regulation Administrator.

10. Rule Amendments/New Rules

  • 10 a. New rules or/and rule amendments can be proposed by any participant/administrator.
  • 10 b. Proposed new rules or/and rule amendments will be discussed if deemed necessary by the Regulation Administrator.
  • 10 c. Any proposed new rules or/and rule amendments discussed, will be implemented if passed by a majority vote of the administrators.

I actually saw your post in the deleted thread.

You do not need anyone to confirm your admittance, simply by posting your predictions in the Week 1 thread will automatically enter you into the game.

Anyone who posts in any one of the first 4 weeks of the game will be automatically entered into the game.

New participants are always welcome.

Rule 5 b means anyone who doesn't post predictions for 4 weeks in a row will be withdrawn.
