As we know the San Siro had 28 new turnstiles installed following the anti-hooligan measures introduced this week.

According to Sky Sports News (a report running on the channel today), only one worked and many season ticket holders got in as they normally do without the gates.

Can someone please confirm that this is true and is anyhing being said in Italy?

It looks like the club/stadium haven't followed the rules?

Other clubs, without fans today, must be outraged?

I dont think any of them worked as they should as they dont have the ticketing system in place. We have barcodes on our tickets that we scan..I dont think this system is working in Milan yet. Tickets were checked manually hence the extremely long queues to get in.

They've had barcodes on the tickets for years, as have Inter. Milan normally use handheld barcode readers to scan the tickets while Inter don't - it took too long.

Remember that the Olimpico meets the new standards for one reason only: public money was, as usual, spent on Rome. A typical outrage.

According to ACMilan.com 28 turnstiles were used:

I've been 'barcoded' at CL games and I think some league games. But it isn't consistent. I've lent my tickets to others for games as well. You're meant to go through the website and do it officially. But I've only done that once. I wonder, is proper enforcement is going to happen? Or if it does, how long is it going to last Roll Eyes.

I bet within a couple of weeks the flares etc will be back at the stadium just like 2 years ago when they first introduced these laws. Nothing will change. I wasnt searched and I dint have to show any id to get in yesterday. Anyone could have gone in with my season ticket. However, all of the banners from the roma clubs were missing from Tribuna Monte Mario as they are no longer allowed to give out free tickets to the Roma Clubs. Clubs used to get 2 free tickets per match and they would each put up a banner..

I also remember printing off authorisation forms entitling people to use other people's seasons. Never been asked for once so I have stopped doing it. I guess the link is probably still there somewhere if you look for it.

I'm surprised at the lack of enforcement at many of the stadiums. When I went to San Siro for the Torino match in December my ticket was scanned electronically and my bag was checked by the police, but I was there really early so there weren't any queues at my gate.

In Turin you can't get into the stadium area without the stewards checking your ID matches the name on the ticket, then there's a turnstile to get through, before finally anyone with bags has them checked by police officers. I've not seen anyone get through without complying with any of these - and it doesn't seem that difficult to manage.

It's called Sex Panther, by Odeon. It's illegal in 9 other countries. It's made with pieces of real panther, so you know it's good. They've done studies you know - 60% of the time, it works every time!

If you are blonde and female you can pretty much get away with anything in this country when dealing with the police. Im very rarely searched at the stadium... the police are a joke in this country and i have very little respect for them. Im more scared of the police than the ultras. Sad but true.

Yes that's what I read too, but the AC Milan website did confirm that there were a few problems with the new gates. Read Here >>>

I agree the British press (especially Sky Sports/News) over reacted with the San Siro situation.

Today they're making so much out of the comments made by Roberto Mancini after yesterday'sgame at Chievo, who said the season should be ended, the title going to the leaders and the new season starting in September.

Very magnanimous of him. I'm sure the current leaders would be delighted at the suggestion of this impartial commentato....oh. Hang on...

Except he didn't say that. He said if it was a choice between playing behind closed doors and stopping the season, awarding the league etc and starting again in September, he'd choose the latter.

Mancini speaks like someone who's had enough of Italy and all its bull.

He was speaking like this even before the Catania "incidents". He definitely fancies a shot at coaching in the Premiership at some point in the not too distant future.

There are a few good articles on L'Espresso.. although in italian..

http://espresso.repubblica.it/dettaglio//1504128

Interesting that a steward at the Olimpico gets paid 20 EURO for working something stupid like 10am to 6pm while a steward in England gets £50. That's a big difference.

I'm fairly sure that most Inter stewards don't get paid anything at all. Mind you, they are allowed to watch the match rather than the crowd.

An American guy that I know who's visiting Milan went to the San siro yesterday.

He bought a ticket from a tout, took it to a police officer who then wrote his name on it and then he entered through a gate, not a turnstile.

Business as usual then.

Sorry, I didn't make that perfectly clear.

Sky Sports News were making out that he said the season should be stopped and Inter handed the title - they didn't make it clear to the British public that he was asked a question and two possible answers to choose from.

I agree with you about Mancini getting fed up with Italy. He's come out many times in the past saying that the Inter job will be his last in Italy...

I can see there being a managerial swap between Inter and Chelsea in the Summer, especially if Jose Mourinho fails to win the Premiership/CL!
