Had it not been for that Poulsen spit he'd be in a Real Madrid shirt by now Im sure of it, I'd like to think he was loyal but before then he wouldn't stop going on about them.
The reason no self assured chairman or club have come in for Totti is as follows:
Match winner Super Totti is an affront to Italian football.
He spits at players and gets banned, he attracts all sorts of negative media and in Weds game against Inter was shown up as the super cheat that he is.
Veron "barely" fouled Totti in the first instance.
Veron was wrong, but his mistake was "honest". Wound up by Totti's insults he lost it! Totti's actions were inflammatory, dishonest, cowardly, and based on an unprofessional and unethical attempt to get another plpayer sent off.
As Veron brushed his throat. Totti went down like a sack of spuds. Showing him up to be the big girls blouse we all know him to be.
It is for these defects in his character that UEFA have rightly not included him in the golden boot top 50 Euro players awards this year.
Likewise for the Azzuri 2006 campaign in Germany, Lippi should leave him at home. He does not merit the wearing of his national shirt.

The European Footballer of the year award is not related to character and its ridiculous that Totti has been excluded. If Totti played for Real Madrid, Juve or Milan and not Roma, he'd have been World Player of the year numerous times before now.
"Why do you take my statements with a papal seriousness?" "I don't want the virgin olive oil..."

Take your black and blue glasses off and get a grip on reality.
Plus he is twice the player the overated Veron is.
Wake up! Just because you don't like Totti doesn't mean he sucks or can't play. He is the best Italian player when on his game, and will be a lynchpin for Lippi in Germany.
Don't hate because he ran Inter around like they were red headed step children

Mikey1892. I'll take your point about the Real Madrid bias but disagree on your point about character not being an aspect of the European Footballer awards. The opposite is true with all the trouble in today's modern game UEFA seek to to reward the player that combines "fuoriclasse" talent with ambassadorial character. Why else is Maldini in the bag for the award this year? Plain and straight Totti is not in the mix this year because of his antics.

Rosa watch the replays - Veron barely touches Totti in his attempt to get the ball. It was however a foul, there was absolutely no stamping and Totti then calls Veron un b*st*r*o Laziale. Veron goes for his throat and Totti is down on the ground writhing quicker than you can say "Arriverderci Roma". I don't like to see professionals trying to get other professionals sent off. Regardless of who they play for or who they are playing against. Full stop.
Enough with the spitting incident already. That was one bluddy incident. You can't deny his talent though. He MUST go to the WC next year if italy has to win it (this coming frm a juve fan).
And if Roma continue to play the way they are playin at the moment, i see him playing in Spain soon. Yeah, he could replace Zidane.
I doubt he'll leave Roma - can't really see him going abroad either. He is a big girl, spends more time whingeing than he does having good games - though, granted the good games are ace
