What an anti-climax! I was looking forward to the announcement of the investigation more than the Italy v Czech game, and all we get is that Juve, Milan, Fiorentina and Lazio have all been charged with various levels of sporting fraud, and we don't even know which teams are accused of violating which codes, just a silly statement that the 4 teams have "either breeched that rule or this rule"!
We don't even know what the possible punishments will be...
And, instead of the 41 people expected to be charged, we get a silly statement that 30 will be charged... but that they will not be named, as it is a "violation of their privacy"!
I know it is summer, but has Justice already packed her bags and left Italy for her summer holiday...?

No Ivano, Juve will be relegated...other will be punished with some points... We already prepare for Serie B...our titles will stay and it is only important... I agree that statements are silly but what you expected from our corrupted system... Day I see likes of clown Berlusconi, Moggi, Giraudo, Sensi, Genoa, Palermo presidente...Galliani merda and other puppets in the jail...will be day that Italy will be free...
It takes time...to count 29 titles

The stipulated punishment for any team guilty of sporting fraud is demotion.

That's correct, in my "rage" I actually mean that we haven't even been told who is officially accused of what! (These clubs and people have been charged now - end of speculation... so let us blinking have what they are accused of!) All 4 teams have to be relegated if guilty: otherwise Italian football will lose the little credibility that it has left. Why all this "either Article 1 or Article 6" and "privacy" nonsense!??! Tell us who is accused of what!

I'm pretty sure the plan a few years back was to reduce Serie A to 18 teams, so this year was destined to be "2 up, 4 down", but it is likely to be "3 up and 3 down" again, via play offs.

It's only been about 3 years since they changed it from18 teams to 20!

I'm a little confused about something and maybe you all could help. How could both Milan and Juve, especially, but also the other two, be cheating in co-ordination with each other when they were both 'challenging' for the title? Is this what is being alleged? Or is it that the four teams were separately cheating without the knowledge of each other? But what happens when two of them play each other and they both try to cheat?

As inter are incapable of winning, things are looking positive for Roma (and you don't say that often)
What are the chances of all charges being mysteriously dropped?

The allegations are the Juve had the referees "in their pockets" and Milan had the "political power" in the Italian FA, as they "controlled" the TV rights and had club officials in high places. Milan allegedly made clubs "toe the Milan line" by saying that they would be offered lucrative TV deals if they cast their vote in the right way. Juve were allegedly happy with this, as long as they were allowed to "control" Serie A and transfer deals, in return for Milan being allowed to do better in Europe... That’s the theory, anyway. But, as with all theories, it doesn’t mean that is the way it was – it’s just a way of making "evidence" conveniently "fit" until proven otherwise, or someone else comes up with a different, better, theory... over to the lawyers now.

Are any Italian teams going to be in Europe next season????

Yes, Inter! Well the last preliminary round at least. Should know this but did Chievo get in UEFA last season?

This table shows which team is in which European tournament assuming no-one is banned/demoted. If teams are banned/demoted, everyone will just shift up presumably, meaning European positions for Parma, Livorno etc etc...
