Do you not think that Arsenal have knowledge of underlying injuries and are skillful in seeing the back of these players before they sit on the sidelines and pick up their wages at Highbury/Ashburton Grove.

?
Can't forget the question mark. Would have added it but window of opportunity is ridiculously small.

Er, with Overmars perhaps - with Edu and Pires they were just unfortunate cruciate ligament injuries that could have happened to anyone.

The commentator tonight was hardly exaggerating when he said at the end of the Arsenal-CSKA game, "probably the most one sided nil-nil you'll ever see". No disallowed goals to complain about this time, just simply dreadful finishing time and time again.

Some of the football was magnificent, out of this world! Fair enough they only got a point, but if I had to watch THAT week in week out I wouldn't be complaining.

Don't I just know it after that miss last night. I actually don't understand how we didn't score.

What Martin Jol said today (courtesy of the Guardian):
"I would always prefer British or British-based talent," he said. "They know the English game, they know the culture and they have got a great mentality. Two years ago when I started here with Frank Arnesen we said we wanted to have a British spine with British talent. The board and the chairman thought it was a good idea and it is a good idea."

While that is true, to be fair Spurs have bought some really good young British talent of late, Davenport, Dawson, Huddlestone, Lennon etc.

You would if the result was the same! Ive never seen a game like that...i thought surely they'd score...doesnt the law of averages dictate it? Ive never seen misses like Fabregas and Rosicky's though... Great result for the toon mind I love it when our reserves beat someone elses RE: Spurs - theres an English spine of Robinson, Jenas, Dawson, Lennon and Defoe that are regular starters. And everybody buys overseas players rather than british ones...its just the way of things

Defoe is a regular starter for Spurs in the same way Mart Poom is a regular starter for Arsenal.

But at least after the Spurs v West Ham game and his closeness to Mascherano you can see Defoe has a real hunger for the game... unfortunately I can't claim that classic as my own! King of the dad jokes Lawro made it on Football Focus a while back, made me laugh anyway! I watched MOTD tonight, was good to see ex-Bristol City Dave Cotterill playing for Wigan, I thought he looked pretty good as well, I didn't see him much for City but he's meant to be a good prospect. Chuffed to see Sheffield United win, not that I take much joy in seeing how rubbish Newcastle are these days. Where does Keiron Dyer go? I'm sure he played a game recently, that'll be his fill for the next year then. I reckon my gran could defend better than Craig Moore and Titus Bramble. Good to see Everton lose as well, chucking a coin at a Fulham player? Why?!

In regards to Newcastle, I honestly feel we may get relegated this season. Saturday's match against Sheffield United was one of the poorest results of recent years and is indicative of the malaise surrounding the club. A spineless chairman whose ludicrous transfer policy and hyping of the club have became untenable, a clueless manager whose tactical ineptitude seem to know no limits, and a bunch of overpriced primadonnas flouncing around on the pitch producing devastatingly bad performances safe in the knowledge their expensive cars can be driven round their estate grounds for another week. Something's gotta give!

I watched a City game on Sky in August, and he was brilliant for them. Shame he left. The Newcastle situation is odd. A year ago, the situation was something like, "Good goalkeeper (Given), good midfield (Parker, Emre, Dyer, Bowyer etc), good attack (Shearer, Owen, Luque) - just sort out the defence, and you've got a great team. Then, looking at the team on Saturday, in the areas you were strong; your goalkeeper isn't great (Harper), the midfield looks uninspiring (Parker, Milner, NZogbia, Butt) and the attack looks toothless (Duff, Rossi). Oh, and to add to that, you still haven't sorted out your defence.

Iain Dowie's sacking.
Should have been given a lot longer to fill the void left by Curbs' departure. How can a man be judged on his first fifteen games in such circumstances?
Murray/Varney deserve Mike Newell as their manager.

I think it's really poor they haven't given him more time, given the short time he's been there and his good record they should have given him longer. I read somewhere the players didn't like his hard line tactics or something. I'd imagine some of the "senior pros" found it difficult when someone else came in after Curbishley had been there so long.

Hurrah for Newcastle getting a draw at the Emirates last saturday...im just getting round to catching up on my posting hence the delay...pity it wasnt a win but we're not conceding too many at the moment so thats encouraging Bramble was outstanding apparently though it was difficult to tell on MOTD
