So you're suggesting that he was worried about being the fall guy?
(Yes, yes, I know. I'm already wearing it and the taxi's waiting)

Pessotto's situation isn't good. I do hope he survives.
From what his wife said it seems that he's been suffering from depression. It's a terrible thing and in a moment of weakness people can do crazy things.
Get well soon, Gobbo.

Yes, in all seriousness, I'm not always sure that people realise that glib generalisations along the lines of 'depression isn't at all pleasant' don't describe it.
Two contemporaries at university suffered from it; one tried to cope through large amounts of cigarettes and alcohol, and failed his first year. He didn't reappear for the resits but was - in effect - given a sabbatical for as long as it took for him to come back and start again.
He never did. He was buried three months before his 22nd second birthday after concluding that the best way of suppressing his demons was through an industrial quantity of paracetamol, washed down with lashings of Warsteiner...

Prof is little better now...still there is danger...doctors explaine it like he is in lead vs death 1 - 0 but it is not enough yet to win this biggest game... Survive Luca, every Juve supporter prays for you... Those bas...rds journalists used it to write that he is on course to be separated and that he is sick from misterious disease so imagine his family now...they have no respect for anyone tragedy...hope they will pay the price in the hell...
It takes time...to count 29 titles

There is a time to put rivalries aside.
Pessotto and his family will be in my prayers. . . and thoughts. I hope he recovers physically from his fall and that he gets the help he needs to put his life back together. The fella is only 36 years old. Tragic.

Acording to the BBC, doctors are worried whether he will survive the next few days or not.
This is so sad and I really hope that he pulls through.

Daily Telegraph: Pessotto's condition worsens This is several hours out of date, though. I have an inherent distrust of the accuracy of Fox News for some reason, but their take on the story from about an hour ago (1120 p.m UK time) can be found here

His wife had a go at reporters yesterday, telling them to stop printing lies..she admitted he had been suffering depression.. I also heard on the radio yesterday that he managed to hold her hand...

A fairly good friend of mine sends his wife and kids to Riccione every July for a month's holiday and joins them at the weekend. This is fairly typical for middle class Italian families. Last year, my mate's wife made friends with Pessotto's wife who was also there with her kids and with Pessotto who was also there before the Juve ritiro started. He was stunned by the Pessotto news and was very surprised to hear about the possible family problems and depression. Fortunately, it now appears that Pessotto should make a full recovery.
