Black and Blue:
"I wouldn't worry about any 'quotes' from Oba. I read the article and it didn't quite read as a 'come and get me' piece. Usual kneejerk reaction to shoddy journalism."
Il Mister:
Absolutely accepted. Hadn't read the article, just seen the website piece. Jumped to a bit of a conclusion there, I think.
I don't like the modern tendency of players at one club to start talking up other clubs in whatever way it may be. I know it follows from the 24-hour sports news channel tendency to look for a story, to create one where it doesn't exist but really I think it is distasteful.
Should a player under contract at one club really be stating his desire, on a long or short term basis, to play for another? Surely that is just asking for misinterpretation and tabloid nonsense.
Unless he really is unhappy and wants out, but surely even this should be kept private and discussed solely among those who are actually able to bring about such moves?
Many coaches say that they don't want a player at their club who doesn't want to be there. If a player wants a move, is it asking too much for him to knock on the managers door and sit down with him to discuss the situation? Don't the fans deserve better than to have quotes and misquotes flying around about the club on wiped all over Sky Sports News all the time?
I am not saying this in reference to the Oba story. I just think that there is a lot of rubbish talked and written (including this posting, I am sure you will add) about transfer speculation linking players to clubs and I don't like reading or hearing it. It gets in the way of real news and stories that might be of some value or interest.
Rant over.

"Bad news. The fog is getting thicker."
"And Leon's getting l-a-r-g-e-r!"
