Yeah you're right, it's not totally pointless from the smaller clubs point of view just you know pragmatically speaking what is the point in them even having one if all the players end up elsewhere? What always strikes me as funny and a bit ironic sometimes, is that often it seems a lot of top players now were at a big club but went down the ladder and are now back up there. Thing is you're right, it is taking a chance but surely some of them are good enough to just give a small chance to, instead of trying to sign them ten years later, alaOddo from Lazio now maybe! I think player power is a bit of jip sometimes, the whole Bosman revolution gave a lot of power to players, fair enough, but it seems to work against a lot of the youth set up. A player like Amoroso gets a move to a big club like Milan basically cos they've (and the rest, before anyone starts!) got a bit more money than sense, his agent is well connected and he's most likely got mates at the club (Leonardo? Cafu? etc). A youth player has to bite his tounge, cos if he's seen to be rocking the boat, even though he's IMO blatantly got a point, then he'll get a bad image and that's the one thing you wouldn't need at that age/stage. I guess it's always been like this to an extent but it's got a lot worse these days I think

Don't get me wrong as I totally agree with you about giving youth players a chance. But at the end of the day it's all about the money. The 'big' clubs aren't willing to gamble as the stakes are too high(i.e. missing out on the CL means losing millions), and that is why they loan players out to the smaller clubs. That way the player gets experience, the (smaller) club gets a better player than they normally would and the big club gets to monitor his progress.
As for Amoroso, he came because of 1)he was experienced and 2) he was free. And you'll probably find he'll go in the summer as well.

Yeah, but a team like Milan can have some youth players in the Italian Cup and such mixed with their top class internationals

If you go to the theatre you go to see the the first choice cast not the young trainee's hanging around at the back. Theres no beating experience. I dont see much point in a youth setup that produces one player every 5-8 years when youve got the money to buy whatever you need!

Yeah, and buy players that are never used or suck and it's a waste of money. And what is Milan's debt by the way

Any one who saw milan last night will know that changes have to be made.
Pirlo is over rated and if he is the best italian midfield player then italy have major problems. Milan are seen as an attacking side but this is only against small teams. When they play against top teams they do what all italian teams do and defend.
I believe that a new right back has to be brought in such as Oddo, three new midfield players such as Juninho, rosicky and dacourt. These players can replace seedorf the overated pirlo and the no talent gattuso.
Up front I believe a player such as cassano would be good. Milan always play better with two attacking midfield players behind sheva. Any one who has seen rui and kaka play together will know this.

Oh yes please, whatever else, an ageing team like ours definitely needs Olivier Dacourt.

Some reports today say that Gallas has chosen Milan

Reports yesterday said that he had signed a new contract at Chelsea...who can you believe nowadays?

I sincerely hope that is true.

the future of milan, players like piazza need to be promoted and others that are lukin promising in the youth sides. Also they need quality wingers for milan to feed shevchenko, and gila some 1 like malouda and joaquin!

| |
|

|
You've seen Piazza play? Also, I don't think Milan need wing players; they score a decent amount of goals on crosses from wide positions from their fullbacks and other midfielders; it's a waste of a player if you bring in someone who can deliver a good service, but can't track back well/do other good things.

havn't seen piazza play but wud like 2 c him play so give him a chance, but thats the problem with the big italian teams, youngsters r'nt given that much of a chance! Right then peter, wot do milan need 2 make them the best again??????

I don't think there need to be too many changes. I wouldn't mind seeing Piazza get a chance to play, nor Ardemagni, who I saw play live in the States. I think if we get Gallas, that'll really help the defense, which besides being old, isn't that problematic. I hope that Kaladze keeps getting playing time; he's really good at CB, better than at LB. Mostly, the defense needs to improve marking on set pieces, but we don't need new personnel for that, just more focus/training/etc. I really like Pirlo, but he's been inconsistent recently; I wouldn't mind seeing him play where Rui Costa would normally play in the 4-3-2-1 we play every once in a while. I think the possible Fiore transfer would be great too; I'd replace Seedorf with him.

yeh ardemagni sounds like a really gud striker! I dn't know bout fiore, 2 old and from wot i hav herd has bin as inconsistent as seedorf! Get some1 like montolivio!
|
| |
|

|
Fair enough; I've really liked Montolivo when I've seen him. Fiore is only 30 or so, and it's not like he'd be playing in Milan for more than a few years, so I don't if that's an issue. He might be inconsistent, I'm not sure. He's looked good in the games I've seen him in this year.

thats fair enough, yeh montolivio wud b gud 4 milan i think, already an established player in serie A AND HE'S STILL YOUNG!

|
Well you can't have Fiore and Montolivo...we won't have anyone left.
You'll probably get Fiore. His form has dropped dramatically, we don't want to pay the asking price, and he seems to like the look of Milan. I won't be that disappointed to see him leave. Enzo Maresca was a better player for us he's the one we should have kept.
Montolivo will stay at Fiorentina, I believe.

yeh wot happened there with the viola only puttin in a small bid for both miccoli and maresca? Juve wern't goin 2 put up much of a fight!

Milan do not need Fiore or Dacourt. They need YOUNGER players. I would like to see some of the youth players get a chance, but if you get some new defenders, you need some younger ones like Barzagli, Zaccardo, etc....
