Great to see the hugely under-rated Fisichella on provisional pole for the Australian GP. Not sure how the new qualifying works but hopefully he'll be there when the race starts. Also it would be great if his day is made more sweet by his football team winning tonight

What's even better is Schumey's current position......

So happy that Fisichella won (sorry if i ruined the result for you). Only his second win ever. Maybe FINALLY he is in a car that deserves his classy driving. A romanista won something this weekend.

Good start for Renault. Has anyone heard about the fiasco with Minardi??? Can anyone shed any light on what the hell is going on, all I know is that they appear to be using last years car, which is surely not allowed?

they were, then they weren't, then they were, then they were told they weren't, then they got a court order to say they were and then they changed the car to fit in with the right regulations anyway.

Because the FIA threatened to pull the race? I heard bits but that seems to make sense now, cheers.

because they had a chnage of heart in the night and didn't want to face the repercussions of the FIA.

They changed their minds after a letter from the FIA to the local Melbourne council (or equivalent of) said that if the "council" don't stop shoving their noses in then they won't stage races in Australia any more. This was after Minardi went to the council to try and get an injunction to race, when really it has nothing to do with them.
Brilliant result. Fisi was my tip for the year, and I don't think he'll go on to prove me wrong. He wasn't troubled all race. The pace from the Ferraris is still there to see in the form of Barrichello; surging up from the mid-field unnoticeably. Meanwhile, Schumacher's antics I don't agree with. Why should he be the one to decide if a load of stewards risk their lives by running over 25 metres to get to his car which was his fault that he crashed. What's more, I doubt disciplinary action will be taken, most likely because he's Michael Schumacher. Red Bulls did fantastically as well, with Coulthard often being the fastest man on the track. It was a bit concerning how Trulli's Toyota and the Williams' just drifted out of the fun. This new qualifying will certainly spice up the season, but we still haven't seen whether in the long-term if Renault can match/beat the pace of Ferrari.

Off to the Gold Cup tomorrow.
Hope I have more luck on the horses than I do on the Serie A Points thread.

Didn't the Gold Cup used to be held on a Thursday? Why the change?

It's now a four day festival, Tuesday to Friday. Gold Cup is still on the last day.

Alonso wins the Malaysian GP, Renault seem unstoppable. Bit gutted to see Fisichella go out though. And Ferrari still 'suck'

Can't wait for the GP's that are a little closer to home, there's no point watching a replay of it.
This could be a very good F1 season, keep up the bad work Schumy!!

French Open Tennis 2005
I'm thinking of going to Roland Garros this year (May 23rd - June 4th). Has anyone ever been to watch - if so, any advice?
|
| |
|

|
My advice would be take a good book to read. It can get very boring.

Nah! French Open is best of the majors for spectators. Statistics have proven that - rallies are much longer (I personally think this is a good thing), fewer aces, more drop shots, best value for money for tennis fans etc.

Did anyone see that point in the second set of Hewitt against Federer at Indian Wells the other day????
Summed up the whole match, and that after the Hewitt V A-Rod game, not a bad tournament on the whole.
Go for it Ferret, I'm sure it will be a blast.

Anyone watch the Rugby Sevens World Cup in Hong Kong? Pure quality entertainment.
When in Rome, do the Romans.

Niope but did you see who performed well for Pakistan against England A in Colombo? Yasir Arafat. Six for 24. Good figures for the deceased Palestinian leader but a bad sign for the future of English cricket
Never underestimate the power of stupid people in large groups
