Is Del Piero a better player than Totti though? He's won more but then so would have Totti if he had been at Milan or Juve instead of Roma...I'd argue that Totti is a better and more skillful player than ADP
"Why do you take my statements with a papal seriousness?" "I don't want the virgin olive oil..."
Roberto Baggio is the best living Italian football player I have seen with my own eyes. I will not count Riva etc.. as I was not Born during those times.
So my votes goes to the one and only Roberto Baggio il divino codino.
That wc 94 performance will never be forgotten pure class.
Forza Palermo Forza Rosanero Forza Luca WHO? FORZA Andrea Caracciolo!!!!!!!!! Sono Bello Sono Sano mia Mama m'ha Fatto Palermitano!
Better than Del Piero who's won so much because, altyhough very talented, he was at juve but not the best ever...my personal favourite though, can't think why.
I've only ben watching Italian Football for the last twelve years so I guess I'm unqualified to talk about players pre 90s but I've seen many great players in that time. Firstly, Totti is brilliant and I do think that his footballing abilities rank up there with the best. But world class? Well, for me, he's never really set the world stage alight. Then again, neither did Gianfranco Zola, Paulo Di Canio, Gianluca Vialli who are some of my favourite players. I performing so well for such a long time while playing for Roma is an acheivement and Totti possibly could have been even more successfull at winning trophies if he had played for Juve or Milan, which is similar to Batistuta at Fiorentina.
I don't think that Totti is the best Italian footballer of all time. I don't even think he's the best italian footballer of the last fifteen or ten years. For me, Gianfranco Zola and Baggio Baggio were a class above. Let me put it this way, if Totti was gold, Zola and Baggio would be platinum.
Totti best Italian player ever? A big no! He's a telented lazy bones who only ever turns it on about once every 10 games - most of the rest of the time he's happy the game passes him by. I don't know about the old school players but modern ones I'd pick Zola over Totti every time, he was a legend
