This is like my 2nd club i just love this team, i know only a couple of players though mainly a under rtaed player called adailton and i knew it when the leichtenstein striker was there called frick! any1 else wanna join in and inform me more on verona?
just thought they also signed a guy called davies from oxford!!!! and they have a defender called gladstone on loan from juve, who's bin awsum this season.
This Davies guy going from Oxford to Verona is the sort of lower league story that would interest me a great deal Mr Editor, if you can pass it on to the people at the magazine. I doubt it would be too difficult to have a few words with him, see what he thinks about it all, it's an interesting, fairly unusual story. I've not seen anything mentioned mentioned in the magazines so far - it would certainly be more interesting than those daft whispers from calcio gossip things or whatever they are.
I'm Shaker Beads! The one and only There's always a bit of rumble on the forum that the magazine doesn't cover nowhere near enough stuff outside Serie A. I'm one of the people who'd like to see more about lower clubs
yeh i agree with u, there isn't enough. Serie b and lower interests me greatly and i enjoy wen it is on eurosport, just like 2 know bit more bout vicenza, ternana and brescia!
I'm not sure how good he is. He seems to have been there years, and looks like he scores a fair few goals as well.
Seeing as there is a Verona thread going - has anyone else read that Tim Parks book about them? I think it's called A Season With Verona. I quite liked it, it was pretty interesting, they sound a bit like Millwall! I thought a lot of the time though, he was far too apologetic, I mean the things the fans are doing/chanting are wrong mate, just write that, not writing endless sociological explanations as to why they are doing it.
I was interested in the regionalism that he portrayed and it's always made me think about the Italian team since. If people are as tied to their regions as he was making out, how much real support is there actually for the national team?
I've been to Verona, I liked it, touched Juliet's left breast for luck!
lol, brilliant thats the sort of insight into verona that i'm lookin 4, yeh adailton has bin around there 4 a while! Bet he's a legend there! Havn't read the book, heard bout it though i'll hav 2 give it a read sumtime, cheers.
I first read 'A Season With Verona' a few years back, and re-read it a few months ago.
It's pretty good, but as you suggest SB, he analysis the @rse out of everything which becomes a bit annoying after a while.
I took Mrs. Mezz to Verona back in 2002. It was alright, but not great. The weather was a bit on the cold side, as were a lot of the people in comparison to other Italian cities we've been to, but I suppose it's a nice enough place to spend a few days if you're not expecting too much.
Well looking at the league table they're pretty naff aren't they? I think they end up playing half their games behind closed doors most of the time cos of the racist trouble their fans are always causing.
I've not really been many places in Italy, I think I appreciated the relative quiet of Verona as much as anything, I'd been in Venice for a couple days just before it, and this was summer time. Don't go to Venice in summer time!
Hellas have been doing okay of late. They have had some pretty poor results. Over the past few seasons there have had some great players including mutu and gilardino.
