Yeah chances are pretty slim. The major players that i know have played for them include gila, mutu, oddo (now at Lazio), Camoranesi, Tommassi, Laursen (now at Villa), Pippo Inzaghi, Caniggia (formerly of Rangers), Joe Jordan, Pessotto (Juve), Aimo Diana (Samp), Paolo rossi and Angelo Peruzzi.

who are verona playin this weekend?

if you have 11 strikers, you can even ask them to defend. But if you have 11 defenders, you will never attack the other team.

They've got Vicenza - you know there is a little Serie B section on the website don't you? Don't get too excited there's hardly anything there but it's got a bit of info about games results etc - I wonder if they'll have that funny Whiskas banner out again!

Verona are falling apart. Senior players such as Italiano, Mazzola and Adailton just aren't up to the Serie B fight at the moment.

They lost again I see - good job they got a few points earlier in the season, they're not miles off the relegation places

Why a friendly in the season?

Giovanni is, of course, joking (run Cazzogrande through an on-line translation engine, and see what comes up... if you see what I mean!)

But, as it is Easter, there is no Serie B this weekend - Serie A are playing in the "usual" Serie B Saturday slot, and Verona do not play until Sunday 23 April (Serie A will again have the "usual" Serie B slot, as Milan play in the Champions League the mid-week after, and there is a rule in Italy that the last 4 games of the season must be played on the same day, at the same time, to avoid teams "taking it easy" if they already know the result of their rearest rivals): Verona will be at home to Torino then.

Oh, ohhh. Giovanni, please be easy with him. Remember, you are a school teacher and have a reputation of an entire profession to uphold... perhaps you can give him 100 lines? "I must not call Giovanni an ijit"...? (And No "Cut" and "Paste" allowed!)

ah don't worry, so do I, reading back in this thread when I said there is a Serie B bit on the website I meant the actual FI website not the forum, there's a link at the top of this forum, as I said there's not really a load of stuff there though - check out the Tim Parks book for Verona bizness

There must be a lot of stuff written about Verona in English, as they were in Serie A until recently. They have a pretty impressive web site, but can't remember if they have a section written in English.

All you need to know about Verona this season is that they probably have enough points already to avoid relegation, but that they are probably one of the Serie B teams with the worst form at the moment.

They have an interesting young defender called Gladstone (on loan from Juventus) who is said to be one of the brighest defensive prospects in Italy, while midfield players Italiano and Mazzola are good, but getting on a bit.

The side can't score at the moment and the players are not motivated, but lots of clubs would want Adailton as a striker.

yeh i've always rated adailton as top quality and could definetly play at a higher level. Yeh definetly gladstone is top class but he won't be given a chance at juventus.

Apparently, Adailton, who will leave Verona on a free transfer as he is out of contract, has agreed to join Treviso next season - a strange move, as Treviso will be playing Serie B football, and I thouhgt he should have held out for an offer from a bigger club, or at least one promoted from Serie B.
