Football attendences have been in decline for a number of years. I think the stadiums are to blame Italy's stadiums compared to stadiums in Britain and Germany are far less family friendly. I say no more flares and stiscione! We need day time kick offs I think the Italians for once need to take a page out of the premiership because if its atmosphere we are looking for I think a packed stadium and 30000 people chanting is far better than an empty stadium and a few smoke bombs! What clubs are proposing to build new stadiums or reinvest in their grounds! Its a shame clubs such as Empoli could not take part in the UEFA cup due to their stadium not meeting the right regulations. For a country that boasts of having the nicest league their stadiums look like something from the comunist era (ascoli).

A lot of the clubs don't even own their grounds though do they? I agree about the atmosphere, I remember when I first saw the big grounds on Channel 4 I used to think they look brilliant, big massive bowls and things - but then when they're empty apart from for two games a year and there's a big running track round it the atmosphere must be dead boring. I do have to say something about the price of games though, by the looks of it Italian prices are nothing compared to Premier League games - I do think even if the stadium was a dump I could handle paying to go their for an hour and a half to see a game in one of the best league's in the world. The prices in Germany are cheap and their grounds are packed all the time.
