It seems our beloved thread has finally been closed Frown

But its very impressive to see we took our thraed past the 100page/2000post point!

Sadly this thread starts in far less optimistic times than the previous thread, but I still think we can secure a place in the UEFA Cup and hopefully secure our status, and who knows the Champions League is well within our grasp!

Away to Modena is a tough match but the kind of match that European hopefuls like us should be winning, so I was disappointed with just the point.
Although it is hard to realistically see Gilardino with us next season, it's very good to see him grabbing another goal. Admittedly I did doubt his consistency, and whilst I still think he can still become more clinical for us, he has made a valuable contribution to the club.

And yes, congrats to Matteo for scoring at the right end, an important goal too!

Forza Parma!!

Ferrari's been a bit dodgy recently imo. But over the whole season he's been one of our key players so i can't really complain.

Parma are well good.

Just a question thats been in my mind over the last couple of months...

With all this fraud stuff that has gone on at Parma, is this involving the disappearing of money that they had recieved for their players??

Buffon
Cannavaro
Thuram
Veron
Mutu
Adriano
Di Vaio
Crespo
Amourso

There is almost £150 million pounds worth of income there! What the **** has happened to it?

If anyone can point me to some online sources of this fr4aud scandal as I am quite interesting in it (for some reason :-s).

Cheers

If you look at the list carefully, you'll see that in most cases (except Buffon and Thuram) Parma themselves shelled out quite a bit to buy the player in the first place.

For a reasonable analysis of the scandal as a whole you can do worse than look here:

I understand they paid a bit for Veron from Sampdoria, but it was nowhere near the amount they recieved for him from Lazio.

They didn;t really pay that much to bring in Cannavaro, did they?

Morfeo is gonna be out for another week, and not back for the Brescia game.

I think we need him quite a lot at the moment, but what we really need to do is sort out our defending!

13 goals conceded in our last 6 matches does not make good reading and we simply cant afford to concede over 2 goals a game like that.

I'm not sure exactly what we would do though, because I dont want to sacrifice the good, enterprising attacking football in order to tighten up too much, but then perhaps if we seriously want to stay up at the top of the table that is something that will have to be done?

Another draw for us!! Another 2 goals conceded at home.

Yet, amazingly we get away with it again thanks to draws from all our closest rivals, but just imagine if we could've been winning these past few games?!

Never mind, but we could've done with a win or two going into next weeks very tough match. Optimistic of a draw in that one, but Milan aren't letting much slip at the moment.

There's no doubt now it's a fight for 4th place we're involved in, the top 3 are settled, and from the pack beneath us at least one team is surely going to give a serious threat to our position.

Fingers crossed...

I am a Leeds fan and it is quite sad to see other clubs in distress financially. It seems Parma have even massive debts or should I say gaps in their accounts than leeds do. And the parma team are still showing character. I saw them against Sampdoria before the Milan derby a few weeks back and they showed fight and played some quality football on a pitch that wasn't up to much.I wish Leeds would show the same fight and football that parma do.But I think italy has got it right arresting chairman who fritter away or take for themselves the money of the club. Our old chairman that has now run off to ruin Barnsley should be thrown into prison as well for fraud.

That move was all blurred on the feed I was watching Frown

Just saw Baggio's legs move a bit and next thing Ferrari is sprawled out on his backside and the ball's in the net.

Well done to Baggio for his 200th as well, btw.

Can't believe this thread went off the first page. It's all these new guys creating rubbish new threads which have pushed us down.

Well as for todays match. I really think we can get a result today. Morfeo's back for us i think as well as Blasi.

We just need to get a rusult and hope that Roma beat Lazio to keep our CL hopes alive. Also idirectly keeping the scudetto interesting.

Parma are well good.

Hoorah!!! I'm finally back Big Grin

Che cazzo Channel 4???!!! Mad Mad Roll Eyes

Anyway, tonight's match. We really should've been 1-0 up after 3mins because there was absolutely nothing wrong with our goal, Dida just dropped the damn ball.

Again Barone came so close to giving us a deserved lead early on, but alas it wasnt to be. We weren't great on any of the goals and at three nil I felt the scoreline was slightly offensive to Parma considering we'd gone in and really given as good as we got. Can't deny that Milan showed some great class though and ultimately we just werent quite good enough to match them. Once it went to 3-0 we pretty much gave up until the final ten minutes when suddenly we actually tried again and finally got the goal we really did deserve, desipte Laursen's attempt to decapitate Gilardino!!

Tomasson was unlucky not to get his hat trick, but he didnt deserve it after somehow managing to miss the easiest chance in the history of football.

Overall we could've grabbed a point if we'd had that bit of luck to go with our hard work, but strangely for a 3-1 defeat I saw a lot of positives. Lets pray for Lazio to mess up one last time against Roma tomorrow and if we can get that slice of luck I believe the Champions League place is ours, I really do.

Forza Parma (and Forza Roma for tomorrow)

I thought Parma were unlucky tonight, thought their performance wasn't at all bad just outclassed by a very strong Milan side. Will be watching the LDV Vans final tomorrow on TV (Blackpool vs Southend) could not manage to go(long way,Tickets). Will be keeping a look on how Brescia are doing.

The stupid ref did us no favours by not correctly giving us that early goal. If he'd done his job properly then the game would've been totally different. With Milan being forced to push forward and attack more we'd have had much more chance of getting a result because we were obviously very effective on the counter attack. As it was we were still very threatening but Milan always had that ability to just control the ball a bit, play some intricate moves (in particular one pass from Pirlo and another from Kaka were immense) and we lost out.

Angry at the ref, cursing the luck but generally high-spirited because we are obviously still a quality team. Could've done with Morfeo back, though and Blasi did ok for his first game back. Slightly disappointed with our defending yet again.

Agreed about the defense. I thought Paolo did well. Ferrari did well apart from the shevchenko, i'm not sure what he was playing at playing everyone onside.

I'm not a fan of Castellini, he's liability at right back, i thought he was partly to blame for the first goal, just turning his back on Pancaro allowing him to turn and get a cross in. And seric, he's just rubbish.

We definietely missed morfeo, Carbone couldn't replace him at all. If Morfeo is injured next week it might be worth giving Zicu a run out instaed of Carbone.

Parma are well good.
