It doesn't seem right that there's no thread dedicated to Turin's only Serie A club.

I'll put it right now.

Nice to see Toro playing in a near full Stadio Olimpico against Parma this evening.

A poor start from Toro with the pre-season problems there for all to see.

Grella almost scored a wondergoal for Parma from the half way line before a deft pass by Morfeo put in Budan for an excellent finish.

Toro then came forward in typical granata fashion though it was mainly about effort than skill.

Comotto looks very good at right back, especially when coming forward.

An excellent header by Serie B stalwart Stellone earned Toro their deserved draw.

It could have been worse.
The first game back is always hard, players maybe dont realise what a step up it is till then.
I reckon Parma will be a stuffy side this season and come May there will be a few teams that would have been happy with a home point against them.
Torino showed character to come back in the last minute.
Congrats also to Turins serie B representitives in holding on,by the skin of their teeth,to a draw away to Rimini

I would have taken a point before the match considering it was the first game back in A and sacking the coach 3 days before.

How do you think we will do this season? I think top 10 at best if all goes well but mid table is more likely. But who knows with Toro?!

FORZA TORO!!

Very hard to say at this very early stage both in our and everyone elses season.
Ill be happy with survival and delighted with a comfortable top half finish

a.What's the ground called where they are playing. At one stage last year they were supposed to be playing at the Communale..

b.Whats the capacity ?

c. Have plans (once again) been made fro a return to the Filadelfia ( spelling ?) in the near future ?

Many thanks .Nigel

Can answer 2 out of 3 - Toro are now playing at the new Stadio Grande Torino which was the old Communale stadium. Capacity is 28000 and is already sold out for every game. Not sure on what is happening at Filadelfia - i think the club now owns it but nothing is planned in the near future. I'm sure someone will correct me if i'm wrong.

Hope this helps.

I live near Bolton..not that it's important.I just thought I'd mention it.
By the way, in the late 80's , there was a flag that used to appear at away games with both City and Torino's badges on it..Not seen it for a long time though now...

The new stadium is the old Comunale but it's generally referred to as the Stadio Olimpico having been done up for the Winter Games.

Juve will also play there this season.

As part of the move to the Communale and the downsizing of the Alpi I think the plan was for Torino to convert the Filadelfia to a taining facility/museum. Not sure if this has been completed yet.

Got the capacity wrong - only 23,000. The missing 500 appeared to be the Parma fans judging by the gaps in the away end.

A poor result for Torino tonight after a terrible start to the game.

Zaccheroni's got his work cut out to get things going well.

I'm not concerned yet but we need a win from the next 2 games. Dropping Abbiati might be a start - bring back Taibi!

The stadium is called Olimpico di Torino the full capacity is 25k. Grande Torino il cazzo!

The Filadelfia, also known as La Fossa (the gave) not far from the Mercati Generali of Via Tunisi is and will remain a ruin.

The Mulita will return in great style to the lower division, one of good aspects of Madama' relegation is that the torinisti will go without, yet again, the only reason they live for, in football terms, the derby.

I'm really glad that we didn't sign Abbiati in the end, he would never have been good enough to replace Buffon. And it's clear now why Milan persisted in not playing him

ADP 06/07 - 23 goals

217 not out!!!!!!!!

I'm sure Torino will live with missing out on the derby if its because we're in A and you're not. Wink
I'm sure you're glad not to have that kind of distraction either, what with your games against Frosinone,Albinoleffe etc coming up over the next 8 months and Juve with -17 points to make up as a result of their cheating.enjoy

Hey gobbi! Did you fill the stadium last week? I heard Juve were giving out 600 free tickets to make sure it was full...pathetic?

We will stay up for sure, just had a bad start.
