I went to Empoli in April 2004 and was able to buy tickets for Empoli v Perugia at the ticket office on the day of the game without any problems - apart from the big teams, and local derbies, they don't sell out.
Last September i got tickets from the ticket office for 25euro (terrece) face value, they'll ask you which team and then they'll give you a ticket for that teams' section. If its a popular team (eg. Juve) you'll need to start queuing 1.5 hours in advance as it takes about 1 hour to queue. Have cash ready, because it's a bit of a scrum and i doubt they'd entertain credit cards.
As you approach the stadium from the train station (approx 20 minute walk) take a left at the last junction before the stadium, walk for 200 meters and the ticket office is on your right.
Regional trains from Florence are every 15 minutes on Sunday mornings and take 30 minutes from Florence SMN to Empoli.
He was probably sacked for the same reason Donadoni was, more or less sacked, at Livorno. Quite a few Italian clubs seem to run by some megalomaniac nutter - Perugia, Cagliari, Genoa etc etc - that if they haven't sacked a coach in three months they start to get a bit twitchy
yeh ur so right there, the livorno president has even admitted he made a mistake in criticisin donadoni. In the recent magazine their was the genoa coach that had just lost his 1st match after a 36 game unbeaten run and got sacked!!!!
but i always found it fascinatin that somma always used the philosophy that 'if you have 11 strikers, you can ask them to defend. But if you have 11 defenders, you will never attack the other team', this i think makes a lot of sense!!
