3 years ago i weighed 18 and a half stone, now i weigh 12 stone and i'm stuck. The lowest i weighed was 11st 6 and that was because i didn't eat as relationship problems were getting me down!!
I'm eating fruit veg, carbohydrates, protein, drinking water, exercising etc etc and i'm stuck!! I feel like the only way i'm going to be able to lose the weight is to starve myself which is not a good idea
Ok not a happy bunny! just weighed myself (haven't done it in about a week) to find i've put on 4lb..... i've tried harder this week than i have done in ages, been having salad for dinner which i don't usually have and been eating more fruit aswell
alot of people put too much attention on weight loss. why not just focus on being healthy and if you loose weight then that's great. sometimes you can put on muscle or maybe gain weight on a diet. the body is complex and there can be a number of reasons for weight gain or loss. sometimes too much salt holds fluid in the body, so fat isn't gained but by holding water you gain weight. there are so many more things that can cause a gain in body mass so just trying to be healthy is the easiest thing overall. don't be too serious about anything. if it's not fun then you shouldn't be doing it. bad health can often stem from excessive behaviour and stress. i can go crazy over diet ect and it does no good. i find i am healthiest when i find balance in what i eat and enjoying myself. i try to eat raw foods mostly but when it gets to serious it can suck but i always enjoy good raw food and the benefits of it so i always come back to eating mostly raw food but denying myself some things like a dinner with friends just makes me unhappy so i always try and look at raw food as a fun thing because the food can be incredibly delicous and gourmet. hope that helps.
just thought i'd add this. on a raw food diet i can have chocolate shakees for breakfast, lasagne, cakes, ice cream, pizza ect and not feel bad so that is pretty good in my opinion. that's why its so good for me i can eat things i love and not feel bad. a shake made from raw cacao (chocolate) with almond milk and frozen bananas is like a chocolate shake. a pizza can be made from a buckwheat base with a sundried tomato sauce with vegetable toppings and nut cheese. the ice cream actually tastes like ice cream. made from coconuts, cashews, agave and vanilla. i've even made a quiche that tastes awesome from things like macadamia nuts, zucchini, mushrooms, tomato, spinach. (check out russell james a raw chef from the uk)
oh lianne just read the first post. i think the best way is to learn how to make really tasty healthy food. that way you can diet for a long time and get the affects without breaking a diet because it's boring or not filling and making you starve. theres alot you can do with healthy food.
If you are getting your exercise, and eating healthy foods, with plenty of variety, but youre still heavier than perhaps you should be (you gave no indication of your height-if you are tall your weight may be perfect) Sometimes if you are losing weight and you hit a wall and cant shift that last few pounds, sometimes it can be as a result of an underlying food intolerance..
The most common culprits are wheat or dairy, followed by shellfish, onions, beef, MSG, nuts, citrus fruits and eggs. Although not necessarily in that order. If you eat a lot of wheat for example, try cutting out wheat and replacing it with quinoa, and cous cous, and gluten free alternatives. Do this for a month and see if your last few pounds shed. Likewise if it is dairy thats the problem, then try replacing dairy produce with goats cheese/milk, or rice, or soy alternatives. Or cut out the other offending culprits altogether. (If cutting out citrus fruits, please get a vitamin C supplement)
Quite often these food intolerances will also be causing skin problems, like psoriasis or eczema, infections of the sinuses and ears, and lack of energy and low mood.
Hope that helps.. Best of luck finding your ideal weight!
Also, it just occurred to me, for losing weight fibre is your best friend.. Oats are the best source of fibre-unless you have a gluten intolerance. However, if after a while of a wheat free diet you are losing that last few pounds, then it is worth reintroducing oats, as they contain a different type of gluten to wheat (gliadin) and not everyone with a gluten intolerance is intolerant to gliadin.
Raw or crunchy vegetables, wholegrains, seeds, nuts.. All great sources of fibre, anything that was a plant basically. As the cell walls (cellulose) of plants are what we call fibre. The crunchier the better-but remember to chew your food properly!!
