Oh, I know how you feel, sister! I get the same thing and sometimes it itches so damn much, I scratch until I bleed too. You just can't help but scratch, can you? Then your legs look minging because of the bleeding and red bumpy rash- do you get that?
As for solutions, I think you have more chance of getting a bad flair up with disposal shavers, as sometimes these can be too hash for sensitve skin. I know they are expensive, but invest in a 'proper' razor with replacable heads or try the Venus disposal shavers that have to same razor head quality as the original Venus-trust me, they are FAB!
Always use a shave foam, instead of soap, which can be too drying and cause the blade to glide badly across the skin. I like the gilette foams and Benefit Bathina Sweet Satin Shave, which is expensive, but so worth it, as it smells delicious and lasts forever. It comes with an exfoliating sponge to help prevent ingrown hairs that can lead to bumps and irritation.
Lastly, you can buy great products by Tend Skin to deal with the rash and itching and prevent the ingrowns. Benefit Bathina Body So Fine Balm is said to be 'the only thing that soothes my razor burn' by one fan. Also, try unscented creams for senstive skin, such as E45 etc. Calamine lotin is great for cooling and soothing rashes.
Hope this helps, honey. I'm not saying you will never get the rash/itching again-but these tips should really help control it and you'll have the irritation less often.
Good luck!!!!
Love Lauren x

Thanks for all the tips, guys. I'll try the Venus, then work down the list from there. Cheers.

Your welcome! You could also try a hair removal cream instead of shaving. There are some great new creams around that are far removed from the old fashioned, smelly kind. They also contain lot's of lovely, moistersing ingredients and are far more effective than they used to be. x

I have awful legs at the moment and i kept thinking its my washing powder until i read this post and realised it could be my shaving. I do shave with disposable razors, but have tried venus in the past and have to say i never had this trouble when i used venus razors. I also thought it could be my bath foam that i use, so i use an e45 one for kids with exczema, itchy skin. I loved wearing those white floaty skirts last summer but with only a few weeks to go before it should be SUMMER WEATHER i am scared that i'm going to be trapped in linen trousers to cover my legs up Its good to know i'm not the only one going through this as i was beginning to think i was becoming a freak.. well maybe i am

I get this too!! I thought i was coming down with some skin condition. I'm just staying hairy for longer which looks SO attractive! But it beats getting so itchy, that even itch cream for excema doesn't even work! I use venus but i still suffer from it. It's just to much more convenient to use a razor. Has anyone tried that wax stuff i have seen advertised, it's called nair i think, and it's pink. You apply a strip then pull the whole strip off

I want to show my legs this summer (if we get any - tee hee)
Try Aqueous cream which can be bought at any chemist....it removes the sting after you shave. Phil

Thanks for the tip, FiddgetyPhilip, but I've tried that already. Nothing works. The only thing that does work is not to shave at all and leave them all hairy or shave them every day, as they only start to itch 2 days after shaving.

I have been finding the simple solution is to keep my legs moisturised. If they get a bit dry this is when the itching starts. Yes Miss Fussy I find it's after a couple of days, when the hair is properly growing back. Mind you, it's not as bad as having 4 mossie bites as i did the other day - now that was itchy!!

Using razors with the moisturising strips in helps (doesn't have to be venus, there are cheaper ones that have it also). Are you sure the itchiness isn't down to an allergy to your moisturiser rather than the shaving though? That's what happened to me, anyway. Try using something more gentle like E45, and maybe put germolene on to stop the itching (as it contains mild anaesthetic).

You might want to try Johnson's baby oil gel, it is soothing on shaved skin Phil

Have you tried exfoliating? I thought that it was to do with warfare in Vietnam but no..., it's to do with getting all the little dead skin petals off with a rough thing made of nylon. It looks like a scrungy you put yr hair up with. I used to have the itchy leg syndrome and tried everything. Only the scrungy every day works for me.

1st of all my advice is not to use a disposible razor, which are not good for people especially with sensitive skin which it sounds like you have. I use gillet which has 3 blades and also a strip of gel like stuff. I find using disposable razors leave my skin sore, ichey and cuts. I havnt had any problems with this razor. I advise to use an aloe vera gel afterwards as this is soothing to the skin and has healing properties.
