Sorry, couldn't remeber the offical term for the female geek (In my course, there are about 300/400 people who study withing the school of computing... out of that lot there is about 20 at the most which are girls (Business girls sometimes sneek in ;p), and out of those, mayby two or three could be classed as geeks), so yeah.... we need to boost the interest of IT to the female population
We need to interview them as well to make sure they are true potential geeks..Say for a month or so in the Bahamas (Their expense obviously for the accolade we are offering)
Every year it would be like major awards...Live from London the 12th Annual Geeket Awards. Who needs the oscars and all that ..
Sounds like a plan.... We could also hold a "Miss World" type contest where geekets show how mighty they are "Now its time for the who can write a VB script to brute force 17 passwords the quickest contest" and "Time to recompile your linux kernal contest"
I'm a geekette! I'm at college doing A Level Maths, Physics and IT, and next year I'll be studying computing at Uni.
I'm the only girl in my college who does IT, and the only one who does Physics. And I have a t-shirt with your binary joke on it! (Did you get it from thinkgeek.com?)

Wow.... We are not worthy of your presence....for you are truly awsum.
Double impressed for the thinkgeek ref. What other geeky stuff do you have? Stuffed Tux (I so want one of those... they are awsum)? more than 1 computer?
Sorry, too many questions at once lol... calm down gareth...the stress needle is freeking out
morphedparadox - Awww, how sweet!! I quite like the Tux too, but I don't own anything else from ThinkGeek because of the cost of shipping. I might buy the "Resistance is futile (if less than 1 ohm)" shirt though!
Yes and no to the multiple computers question. There are three in my house, but they're not all mine.
Hmm, I'm not an IT geek but I am a geek in many many ways. Too many to list (although I do love making lists). Actually the fact I post on message boards in the early hours of the morning probably makes it rather obvious that I'm geek. O_o
When I was in Computer Science at University we had 1 female in the class (well if you could call her that, she was a dwarf with probably what I would call a "mangina")
As for places I've worked, not a one has had a female in hte department.
i like my sci-fi and what-not... and i was staff in a couple of irc chatrooms (quit because people bug me in general), used to type in all my commands manually...
i was good at physics in school though.. wish i'd taken that for my higher...

"IT" is a broad range, for all we know you could be an "IT Receptionist" what aspect are you taking?
Did Computer Science in uni, college did Computer systems (all the MS Side of things MCSE) then did computer systems technology and networking (the Cisco side of things CCNA, as well as unix, and others)
Cool - I've not heard of geekbliss, but I'll check it out. Thanks also for telling me about the Roy fan club thread!
Not decided where I'm going yet - I've got several offers, but some of them are pretty high :S Possibly Bristol or Bath. And I've applied to several different courses - some are computer engineering, others are system engineering, etc.
And yay - more Geekettes/Digital Angels are entering! I'm not alone!

Oh wow, we now have 4 digital angels, soon we will be overrun with girlies and will have to change the forums colors to pink, and have to get a female bathroom installed, we don't want any affairs in this forum.
