I've totally given up dvd players, etc. I'm now a media center guy. My modded xbox is my ultimate media machine. If it did 1080p it would be perfect.

I'd argue there is a larger crowd of IT guys watching it in US than UK.

That´s fine. As long as people somewhere are enjoying it it should mean more being made!

I don't think US remakes work well because all of the networks (apart from HBO apparantly) are so PC. They are terrified of offending anyone.
The last great US sitcom was IMO the early seasons of Married with Children. It wasn't afraid to mock everyone. Nowadays the all all so generic with middle-class white folk and the black friend.
2 and a half men is pretty funny and offensive enough though.

I disagree with you about 2 and half men.. Started off ok, then went off the boil. I hope that they are not going to do a US version of the IT Crowd. They will totally destroy the essence of the show. Most Americans do not get our humour, at all. Would they be able to do a version of Series 2, episode 1- with Roy in the wheelchair? Would they deem it offensive?

we in the USA love this show. anyone i show it to loves it and wants to watch all available episodes.
when an IT CROWD episode is released on torrents, it never fails to have 6000+ peers -- the most i've seen for any torrent file ever.
there is a global market for entertainment so until you find a way to SELL us your product, we in the USA can only download it anyway we can.
ie, sell a NTSC DVD for each season and i'll buy them.
i dunno if Big Bang Theory is the USA equivalent of IT CROWD, but it is kinda funny, for those of you interested. not as good IMO
MORE IT CROWD!!! MORE PLEASE

There was an attempt to make a US version of Red Dwarf and It was horrible. As for The It Crowd, the show is better being a British comedy and should stay that way.
This show is in my top five best TV comedies. The Kids In The Hall Third Rock From The Sun Red Dwarf The IT crowd News Radio (in no particular order)

Hmmm, Im from the US and am not a huge fan of british humor (although, Im not too fond of most of the American humor either).
The IT crowd stands out for me. It is 100% the funniest thing I have watched on either British or American television. The sad part of hearing about it coming to the US is that it will never be the same. Inevitably, it will be "dumbed down" for the general population in order to reach a larger viewing demographic.
And as for American vs British humor, it is like comparing apples to oranges. Humor that we can relate to is usually the best kind. Perhaps this is why British people prefer British humor and Americans prefer well, American? But to say one is better than the other is IMHO a bit ignorant and in doing so, is nothing more than trolling for an off-topic argument in the never ending debate of "brits vs. Americans".
Sort of a lame thread IMHO.
In short, I hope the IT crowd stays where it is. It has a magic that can not be replaced. They should continue production "as-is" and then export to the US.
